It sounds like she may have been struggling with her mental health. I worry about her in this cold weather too.

Anisse Jawhari has been trying to wait patiently, but on Tuesday she broke down and called the Fenton Police Department.

"It's been two weeks," she told an officer, weeping. "I want my daughter back."

Randa Jawhari, 42, went missing Feb. 11. The 5-foot-tall, 100-pound woman was last seen wearing a blue bathrobe.

As police investigate, volunteers conduct searches and fliers offering a $1,000 reward are plastered all over town, the family's misery is palpable.

"We're broken. We're broken," said Diana Anderson, 37, of Argentine Township, Randa Jawhari's sister. "Our faith in God is the only thing that keeps us standing."

Her family is trying very hard to locate her. It seems everywhere I go, I see her posters, so the word is out there. I think that is the best that can be done right now, is keep her picture out there and if she is still in the area alive, she will be spotted. It's hard to hide in this part of MI, the drug use is so rampant that someone is almost guaranteed to turn her in for the $1000 if for no other reason.

9 April 09

The family of a Fenton woman that’s been missing for more than two months is not giving up hope that she’ll be found. Fenton Police have been investigating the disappearance of 42 year old Randa Jawhari on February 11th. Chief Rick Aro tells WHMI that there have been no solid leads from the public and Jawhari’s family has now put up two billboards in the area along US-23 in hopes of a break in the case. The northbound billboard is located near Bristol Road and the southbound billboard has been placed near Hill Road. Jawhari last talked to her sister over the phone the night she disappeared but when her sister called the next morning, there was no answer at her Shiawassee Avenue apartment. Family members have indicated that there were no signs of foul play or any struggle inside the apartment. Jawhari is described as being a white female with brown hair standing just over five feet tall and weighing 100 pounds. The Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation is offering a $5,000 reward in addition to the $1,000 being offered by family members. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Fenton Police Department at (810) 629-5311. (JM)

Fenton police looking for man in connection to disappearance of Randa Jawhari

Police are looking for a well-dressed man they hope can help them find a mentally ill woman who has been missing since February.

There's just one problem -- they don't know who he is.

Fenton police Detective Ron Skarzynski said the man accompanied Jawhari on about five visits to a dentist's office at Court Street and Dort Highway in October and November.

Jawhari was having a partial bridge made and a receptionist there told police the man seemed very impatient during the appointments.

The man was constantly asking how long Jawhari would be, said Skarzynski.

The dental receptionist recently met with a state police sketch artist and described the man with Jawhari as clean cut and 30 to 35. He was seen wearing a long, black leather jacket and silver chains around his neck.

Police want to talk with him to see if he has heard from her since she went missing.

Police have labeled the man a "person of interest" and said the investigation has not led them to suspect foul play in the disappearance.

Tips about Jawhari have slowed with each passing week, but Skarzynski said police still get the occasional claim from individuals who believe they have seen her.

She takes an injection to treat her bipolar disorder, but police don't believe she has received her medication since Feb. 6.

She doesn't own a car and may have been wearing a long, blue bathrobe when she disappeared. A heavy smoker, her cigarettes were left behind at her apartment.

There also has been no activity on her Social Security account.

Family of missing Fenton woman to hold prayer vigil

The family of Randa Jawhari will be holding a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 6 in honor of her 43rd birthday, which is June 2. Those attending will be gathering at the millpond park gazebo next to Fenton City Hall.

Jawhari’s sister, Naheda Jawhari, said the family would love to meet all of their supporters. Randa’s twin sister, Ghada Joseph, of Ohio, is also expected to attend.

Randa Jawhari, 42, was reported missing by family on Wednesday, Feb. 11. She was last heard from at about 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, said her sister Rocky Jawhari, who spoke with her on the phone. Rocky said Randa told her she was tired and was going to go to bed.

Rocky said the clothes that were laid out for Randa to wear the next day were left untouched. Family members and police have said there was no sign of any struggle or foul play inside her apartment. Family members also said Randa was a chain smoker, yet an open pack of cigarettes was found beside her favorite chair.

“We’re hoping for a break,” said the detective. He said they’ve exhausted all tips and are asking for assistance from the public.
