FL - Shane Graham, 10, Port St. Lucie, 1999
25 Feb 09
They're using high-tech equipment hoping to find the remains of a boy who disappeared while in the care of a convicted child abuser. Port St. Lucie police detectives are making the rounds at three properties once owned by Judith Leekin.
Shane Graham, a 10 year-old boy, missing for a decade, might be buried...
...Judith Leekin, abused 11 adopted disabled children. She reportedly did not feed them, and tied them up in a side room.
Three weeks ago she was sentenced for that crime, and for defrauding New York State out of millions of dollars. Her punishment: 20 years.
Shane Graham or "Moo" had Down's Syndrome and we're told could never survive on his own.

Eight in Adoption Abuse Case Agree to $17.5 Million Settlement With Foster Agencies
By BENJAMIN WEISER AUG. 27, 2014
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/28/ny...-agencies.htmlEight young adults with disabilities who were fraudulently adopted by a Queens woman and subjected to years of abuse have agreed to a $17.5 million settlement of their lawsuit against three private New York foster care agencies that had placed them with the woman, a new court filing shows.
The woman, Judith Leekin, 69, who adopted the children in the 1980s and ’90s, was arrested in 2007 in Florida, where she had moved with them. She was later convicted of fraud and abuse charges and is serving a lengthy prison sentence.
The case has long been seen as a horrific breakdown in the city’s foster care system. The authorities said Ms. Leekin used false names to adopt 11 children — one disappeared while in her care and is presumed dead — and she collected $1.68 million in subsidies from New York that were intended for their care but went to support her own lavish lifestyle.
1/1/2000 is entered as Shane's LSA date on his NamUs entry: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/6132/

Cops are pleading for help from the public in their search for Shane, who also suffers from autism and sickle cell anemia.
"We hope, obviously, maybe she gave him away and he's alive someplace," Klearman said....
Leekin, who remains in jail on $4.4 million bail, has been uncooperative in the search for Shane, Klearman said. She was busted in July after one of her adopted disabled kids was found abandoned in St. Petersburg.
Cops traced the girl's address to Leekin's well-manicured Port St. Lucie home, where they found nine boys and girls she adopted in New York starving, battered and shackled with handcuffs and plastic ties in a narrow hallway.
Absolutely horrendous You are not forgotten, Shane.
