UPDATED: Casey Anthony Attends Hearing, Trial Date Set

Judge Stan Strickland set a trial date for October 12. He also ruled against the defense motion to block the release of picture from Casey's photobucket account. The judge went on to delay the release of jail video tape. It was recorded as Casey learned that her daughter's remains were found.
Casey's lawyers want the public to see her the way she looked when she walked into court Monday, professional, dressed in a blue blouse and dark slacks. But the Casey Anthony most people know is a party girl featured in pictures all over the Internet.

"The horse was already left the barn. Now he goes back to lock the barn door. It doesn't make sense," WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said.
Sheaffer said the defense argument that the photos are irrelevant is weak.
"A mother has an infant, a child is missing, and she continues to party," Sheaffer said.
The judge agreed to issue a stay on the release of the jailhouse video.

Anthony's Trial Tentatively Set For Oct. 12

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Judge Stan Strickland ruled Monday to delay the release of a video showing Casey Anthony's reaction to the news that a body was found near her East Orlando home. During the hearing, Strickland announced that Anthony's trial is tentatively set to begin on Oct. 12.
Prosecutors have released hundreds of pages of evidence in the case so far. The prosecution confirmed that it is waiting to release another 1,000 pages of evidence until the matter is resolved at Monday's hearing.
A little before 4 p.m., George and Cindy Anthony made their way to the courthouse. They have not seen their daughter in person since Oct. 14 -- the day she was indicted by a grand jury for Caylee's death.
Orange County Corrections Department spokesman Allen Moore released a statement regarding the department's position on revealing inmate demeanor.
"As we have consistently stated, we do not report reaction or demeanor of any inmate in our custody. Further, Orange County Corrections will not reveal any information about law enforcement investigations or requests involving the jail," Moore said in the statement.

Judge: I'll rule on Casey Anthony photos later

Today's updates
5:19 p.m. A judge said he will decide later if the public will get to see personal photos Casey Anthony posted on an online-picture sharing Web site.
5 p.m.A tentative date was set for Casey's trial -- Oct. 12. Today's hearing is over.
4:59 p.m.Strickland is delaying the release of the video until Baez can see it. Baez will have 15 days after viewing the video to file another motion to block the release. He will get a copy by Wednesday. Strickland said he will issue an order about the photos soon.
4:51 p.m.Chief Assistant State Attorney Bill Vose argued that Casey's photos are a public record unless there is an exemption. He said the state "doesn't have a dog in this fight."
4:47 p.m. An attorney for the Orlando Sentinel, which supports the release of Casey's photos, said images that are part of discovery are public record and should be released as part of the normal process of discovery. Sentinel attorney Rachel Fugate said the newspaper already has many of these photos, which are in the public domain, she argued. She said the images are not going to prevent the defendant's right to a fair trial.
4:35 p.m. Some of the photos Casey wants to keep private have never been available to the public, her attorney just said. Casey had several accounts with online photo-sharing sites, her attorney, Jose Baez just said. He said releasing the photos could hurt his defense. "I understand the public's need to know," Baez said. "However, these are issues that are irrelevant and could jeopardize my client's right to a fair trial."
4:21 p.m. Cindy and George Anthony are sitting in the row behind Casey Anthony during this afternoon's hearing at the Orange County Courthouse.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A target date of mid-October was established as a possible start date for the trial of Casey Anthony, who is accused of murdering her daughter, Caylee. Anthony's first-degree murder trial was tentatively set for Monday for Oct. 12, and Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland also agreed to temporarily stop the public release of a jailhouse video of Anthony reacting to news that Caylee's remains had been found until her defense attorney can view the recording.
Strickland also declined to block the release of personal photos Anthony put on a photo-sharing Web site. The photos, some of which show her partying with friends, were gathered as part of detectives' investigation and many of them are accessible online.

Casey Anthony case: Family has a low-key reunion in court

That was the big news from a hearing Monday attended by Anthony and her parents, George and Cindy. Casey Anthony is charged with the murder of her daughter, Caylee.
"That's the first time George and Cindy have seen her in person since Oct. 14, the day she was indicted," said Tony Pipitone of WKMG-Channel 6. "They have not gone to the jail. They have not had video conferences with her. They have not had phone calls with her. So that must have been something for them today."
WESH-Channel 2's Michelle Meredith asked questions of George and Cindy Anthony on the way in and out of the courthouse. "They were not talking," Meredith said. "They were very quiet, very composed."
WKMG anchor Jacqueline London noted that there wasn't much of a reaction between family members in the courtroom. Casey Anthony, dressed in a blue shirt, could be seen turning, smiling and greeting her parents. And that was it.

Tentatively scheduled for October 12

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The judge in the Casey Anthony trial has denied a defense motion to suppress photos and images belonging to his client.
Late Monday evening Judge Stan Strickland ruled that the online photos can be released to the public.

Countering Baez's claim, an attorney representing the Orlando Sentinel newspaper said that any photos in question were already in the public domain through their online publication on Photobucket.com.
"How do I stop these from being news?" asked Judge Stan Strickland of Baez. "I say that with all due respect," he added. Baez asked that if prosecutors wanted to use any of the images, they should be formally submitted as evidence and that all other images remain private.
Baez also argued that releasing the jailhouse video would taint a potential jury pool. "It really is more of motion to stay until we could have a proper hearing," Baez stated, adding that he had not had an opportunity to see the recorded video images.
On whether several photographs published on Photobucket.com should remain private, Judge Strickland said he would take the motion under advisement. Strickland issued a stay on the second motion regarding the release of the jailhouse video until Baez had an opportunity to view the recording.
