Waikiki woman still missing after 10 months

An Oahu woman's missing persons case has gone cold, nearly a year after her disappearance.

But her husband holds out hope she will return.

A beautiful day brings many out to the ocean.

But for Stan Jacobs, even this scenic setting cannot wash away the painful reality that his wife is still missing.

"Its difficult to spend anytime by myself, cause the memories of Kimberly come flooding in," said Jacobs.

Especially at the Elks Club, which was a favorite hangout for the couple.

"We'd sit out here on the lanai overlooking the ocean and hug. Kimberly loves the ocean, she would go out for swims from here. She also made it the spot to bring our granddaughter."

But 10 months ago, Kimberly vanished from their Waikiki apartment, without a trace.

"All of Kimberly's stuff was in the house, all of her stuff was here, her cell phone, her passport, credit cards and cash."

"June 30th is Kimberly's birthday - she'll be 48. We're inviting a bunch of people here to the Elks Club to commemorate her birthday and get the word out that she is still missing.."

Stan says Kimberly used to celebrate her birthday not just on the day but for the entire month of June.

30 June 09

A crowd gathered in Waikiki Tuesday evening to celebrate the birthday of a woman who disappeared 10 months ago. Kimberly Day Jacobs was last seen in August 2008 on the beach. A few hours ago, family and friends gathered to celebrate her 48th birthday. After a few prayers and speeches, they released 50 colored homing pigeons to help Kimberly find her way home. But they still need your help.

"Be aware, lookout, better to call in and it not be her, than not call in and it be her," said Kimberly's husband Stan Jacobs.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Kimberly Jacobs, call the Honolulu Police.

Thank you ~n/t~ for posting these links and keeping Kimberly's memory alive. I am quite familiar with this case. I hope that others will do some research and give their opinions as Kimberly and her family deserve some closure.

Here is a screenshot of the condo she lived in with her husband, Stan.
It is in Waikiki and backs to the ocean. There is a large park directly across the street. Kimberly's condo.PNG Waikiki is a bustling area yet she seems to have just vanished. She had polio and walked with a very distinct limp.

Heartbreaking for her daughter and her family. I hope they get a break in the case soon. She is such a beautiful woman. So sad.

Has her husband cooperated with LE? Taken a poly? It's mind boggling how people can just vanish without a trace. Scary. :(

There are conflicting reports on whether the husband cooperated. Her friend on the mainland was the one who reported her missing. I have never heard anything one way or the other about a polygraph.

Seems very strange that her friend-from the mainland, no less-was the one who reported her missing.

Family is asking for anyone who was vacationing or was in the area that may
have taken a picture around Waikiki during Kimberly's disappearance to share the photo with them.

"How you can help: Kimberly's friends and family need any information that
may shed light on what happened to her. Things that may help include:
1. All photos or videos taken from Thursday, August 21 through
Sunday, August 24, 2008, of the area in question. Don't assume the photograph or
video is unimportant. It may contain vital clues (such as persons, vehicles, tiny
objects, etc.) What is not seen in a photograph may be as important as what is seen.
We need every picture, including any by visitors or guests. Please indicate when
and where each photo or video was taken, if known, and by who.
The area at issue includes the Diamond Head Ambassador co-op (2957
Kalakaua), and everything in a radius of several blocks around there, including the
ocean, the seawall in front of DHA, the streets, sidewalks, parking, stairways, etc."
