AZ - Marana, Remains found in riverbed, Mar'09 - Roy Joseph Harris

    16 March 09

Marana police will continue searching today for skeletal remains in the Santa Cruz River south of the Cortaro Road bridge.

And officials are looking into the possibility that the remains might be those of a 28-year-old Tucson man missing since last summer.

The search began Sunday after two teen girls walking their dog found a human skull, femur bone and part of a pelvis, said Sgt. Tim Brunenkant, a Marana Police Department spokesman.

    and

The TPD case stems from an incident in July when Roy Joseph Harris disappeared during heavy rainfall.

I heard about this....intersting. It's so hard, since there's likely dozens of unclaimed bodies in unmarked graves across this state, since we have such a high rate of illegal crossing.

The couple says the city failed to “eliminate, guard against, and/or warn drivers of the unreasonably dangerous hazard created by flooding” and that their son died as a result. The Harrises are seeking unspecified damages.
While I feel for this family.....time and time again people are told to not go into washes or go near them if they are running heavy. Every year motorists get stranded and the authorities charge them to pull them out, because they ignore barricades or, like in this case, they still go through even though it's running high. Just because there's no barricades or a cop standing there dosn't mean it's safe! THey can't be at every high or fast-running wash. If it's running high, running fast, then DON'T go in it! If a big wall of water came at him, then he obviously would have seen that it was running high in the first place and shouldn't have gone in. You need common sense and to remember the admonitions given every year
