The close-knit family members 86-year-old Mary Alice Dixon left behind when she walked away from her New Ellenton home seven years ago are still searching for answers about her sudden disappearance.
Annie Dixon said the family has yet to hold a memorial service for her mother.
"Doing so would be saying she's dead," Annie Dixon said. "I don't want to do that, even after seven years. I guess I am hopeful."
The family still struggles, she added.
Mary Alice Dixon was last seen on March 20, 2002, walking on U.S. Highway 278 near S.C. Highway 19 in New Ellenton.
