    http://www.theyaremissed.org/ncma/ga...hp?A200502561S

Circumstances of Disappearance: Annie was last seen at approximately 5:30pm at her residence in the vicinity of the 200 block of Haynes St. in Tiptonville, TN. She left the residence in the company of a male individual in her black 1981 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The vehicle was later located on January 11, 1983 in the Mississippi River near Tiptonville, TN. The male individual's remains were located next to the truck in the river and his death was determined to be a drowning. Searches have been conducted by L.E. in the river but have found no evidence of Annie.

What Ever Happened To Annie Mae?
    http://www.lakecountybanner.com/news.php?viewStory=1754

Arkansas Crime Lab authorities, working on cold case files and missing persons reports from the 1980s, matched a body discovered near Marianna, Ark., in March of 1983, with the missing person report of Ms. Hughes.

Mariana is more than 130 river miles from where the truck in which she was last seen was located just west of Tiptonville.

They contacted Lake County authorities last week and the two agencies are working to do a DNA match from remains still in the possession of the Arkansas Crime Lab. Through DNA testing with Hughes’ relatives here in Tennessee, authorities should be able to positively identify the remains as Ms. Hughes or eliminate her altogether.

Lake County authorities have received additional information from the Arkansas Crime Lab in Little Rock about a body discovered in the Mississippi River in 1983 that might be linked to the disappearance of Annie Mae Hughes.

Investigator Joe Vernon of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department took DNA samples from one of Ms. Hughes’ daughters last week and sent them to North Texas State University for a possible match with DNA samples from the body.

Vernon said he did not know when the results might be available, but added that further information released by the Arkansas Crime Lab still points to the remains being those of Annie Mae Hughes.

Vernon said all teeth were missing and that the Crime Lab speculated the person had false teeth. Ms. Hughes’ family confirmed she wore false teeth.
Prayers for Annie's children that they recieve the answers they are looking for, and peace and comfort after 26 yrs of waiting.

According to new DNA results, Hughes' bones washed ashore in a small Arkansas town, 150 miles down the Mississippi River.

Wow, are the results of the DNA tests that are just in from the same tests that were sent to be tested in 2009?

    That was FOUR YEARS AGO!!!

Making the relatives wait for answers for that long doesn't seem quite right to me.
