NC - Ca'zhia McMillian, 6, Little River, 24 March 2009 - Presumed Drowned
Dive teams and rescue crews from Harnett and Cumberland counties plan to scale back their search overnight for Ca'zhia McMillian, a missing 6-year-old girl who authorities say fell into the Little River on Tuesday afternoon.
About 100 people were involved in the search Wednesday by air, by land and on the water near where a friend said Ca'zhia fell into the water. Tracking dogs helped search the riverbanks, and crews used sonar on the water.
Ca'zhia was reported missing at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday near 229 Woodwind Drive in Spring Lake, off Riverwind Drive. She and a friend were playing on the riverbank when she fell in, according to her aunt, Denise Goins.
Ca'zhia isn't a strong swimmer, Goins said, and all family members could do was hope and pray.

So sad,it's supposed to rain today and all weekend which could make the river rise and make the search difficult. I pray that they find this baby and my prayers for her family.

Rain early Thursday hindered the search for a missing 6-year-old girl who authorities say fell into the Little River on Tuesday afternoon. Wet weather kept divers and boats off the river, and rescuers used the hiatus as an opportunity to rest...

What a precious child. I hope she's found soon too.
What is the reason that divers won't dive on a rainy day? It seems to me since they're under the water that it wouldn't matter.

More divers join search for girl
The search for Ca'zhia McMillian will shut down when storms hit this evening, then resume when the weather clears, an official from the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office said today...
...About 30 to 35 divers are looking for the girl, although some are manning boats and not in the water, Holder said. More than 100 rescuers are participating in the search.
The state Highway Patrol is searching by air. Other boats are patrolling different parts of the river.

Missing Girl's Mom Frustrated
"They make me feel like they have given up," said Sharonda McNeill, the mother of Ca'zhia McMillian. "I just need help because I don't feel like they are doing enough. I need someone to help me find my baby."
Director of Emergency Services Gary Pope said efforts in the river, including diving and dragging, have been temporarily halted because of swift currents and high water levels. It is scheduled to resume this week.
Harnett County Sheriff's Maj. Eddie Holder said the river is still bad today.
"They will probably not be able to get back in today," Major Holder said this morning
Ms. McNeill says she wants rescue workers to look for clothing from Ca'zhia.
"It seems like they should be able to find her shoes, her coat, her hairbows or something," she said...
...Ms. McNeill said she is concerned about the story the child who was with Ca'zhia told. The child told rescue workers Ca'zhia fell in the river.
