    Other Similar Cases

I wanted to have a thread where we could talk about cases that are similar to the Lyon case.I was thinking of double abductions, abductions where a known ruse was used and any other type of similar circumstances that you may come across. I think it would be helpful to start looking for patterns in other abductions.

    Vital Statistics

Date Of Birth: February 1, 1959
Age at Time of Disappearance: 15 years old
Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 5'6; 110 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Brown hair; hazel eyes.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Circumstances of Disappearance

Cynthia was last seen walking with her younger sister, Jackie, on July 31, 1974.
They were headed to a friend's home, which was located three blocks away from their own residence in the Desert Sands Mobile Home Park in east Mesa.
They had just moved there a month earlier from Page, Arizona, so that their father, who was suffering from terminal cancer, could be closer to the hospital.
Both girls were last seen walking on Baseline Road near Power Road. They told their mother that they were scheduled to babysit, but she learned afterwards that they planned to attend a party.
Cindy likely was meeting a boy her father had forbidden her to see. Teenagers who attended the party were questioned more than once. Stories conflicted. One teenager said the sisters did show up at the party; others said they didn't. Neither Cynthia nor her sister have been heard from since.
In the weeks following the girls' disappearance, family members and sheriff's deputies searched orange groves and cotton fields. These fields have since been replaced by subdivisions, apartments, theaters and stores.

A few days later, a letter from Rachel arrived at the home of her husband, Thomas.
"I know I'm going to catch it, but we just had to get away. We're going to Houston. See you in about a week. The car is in Sear's upper lot. Love Rachel."
The letter was written by a right-handed person when Rachel was left-handed. Handwriting experts are uncertain who wrote the letter, their tests inconclusive. Charlotte June Kinsey & Cinda Leann Pallett

    The Doe Network:
    Case File 174DFOK

Left and Center: Kinsey, circa 1981; Right: Age-progressed to age 37 (circa 2005)

    Charlotte June Kinsey
Missing since September 26, 1981 from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.
    Classification: Non Family Abduction

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Vital Statistics

Date Of Birth: September 10, 1968
Age at Time of Disappearance: 13 years old
Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 5'0; 100 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Shoulder lenght blonde hair; blue / grey eyes.
Marks, Scars: Kinsey has a small dot-shaped scar below her left eye. Her ears are pierced.
Dentals: Silver caps on lower front teeth. Dental X-rays not available.
Clothing: Maroon blouse with white strips, blue jeans, tennis shoes.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Circumstances of Disappearance
Kinsey was last seen at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds on September 26, 1981. She was accompanied by her friend, Cinda Leann Pallett. Kinsey called home to tell her family that she had secured a job helping a carnival worker unload stuffed animals. Neither Kinsey nor Pallett has ever been seen or heard from again. Foul play is suspected in both disappearances.
Three years and 11 months after they disappeared from the State Fair, a suspect was tried on murder and kidnapping charges. He was reportedly seen with the two girls when they disappeared. He had been in Oklahoma City when the girls vanished, and two boys were positive he was the one who offered the girls jobs unloading stuffed animals. What's more, the former cross-country truck driver had a history of sexual violence toward young girls.
Police traced the Pontiac Grand Prix, the suspect Long had rented in Oklahoma City, to a car lot in El Paso, Texas. The former rental car's make and model were significant as Pallett and Kinsey were last seen driving away with a bearded man in a Pontiac Grand Prix.
In the car trunk police found circumstantial, scientific evidence that became the foundation to the prosecution's case. 13 scalp hairs were found. A police forensic chemist matched them with the hair of Pallett. Animal hairs found in the trunk matched those belonging to three dogs and a cat she played with.
A lock of hair found in suspect's Wyoming trailer house, could have come from Kensey .
Three separate tests showed the car trunk mat once was bloody. The judge dismissed the kidnapping and murder charges because he found no evidence the girls were confined.

    Carlene Brown

    The Doe Network:
    Case File 2217DFWY

    Brown, circa 1973

    Carlene Brown
Missing since July 4, 1974 from Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming
    Classification: Non family Abduction

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Vital Statistics

    Date Of Birth: circa 1955
Age at Time of Disappearance: 19 years old
    Distinguishing Characteristics: White female.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Circumstances of Disappearance
Brown was last seen with her friend Christy Gross, age 19, while visiting the Little Britches Rodeo in Rawlins, Wyoming on July 4, 1974.
The skeletal remains of Christy Gross were found on October 27, 1983, three miles south of Sinclair, Wyoming. She had been killed by two heavy blows to the skull.
There were four murders or disappearances of young women within a seven-week period in July and August 1974 in and around the town of Rawlins. Deborah Rae Meyer left a relatives home on August 4, 1974 to see a movie and was never seen again. Ten-year-old Jayleen Banker vanished while visiting the Carbon County Rodeo after being separated from a friend on August 23rd. Her body was later recovered in a field.
Carlene and Deborah have never been located.

The suspect in the 1981 Oklahoma abductions of Cinda Pallett and Charlotte Kinsey, and the 1984 abduction of Sharon Baldeagle was considered a possible suspect in the 1974 cases because he lived in the area and worked in fairs and carnivals like the ones being held at the time. But, no evidence has ever connected him to them.

    Wendy Eaton
Missing since May 17, 1975 from Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
    Classification: Non Family Abduction

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Vital Statistics

Date Of Birth: May 26, 1959
Age at Time of Disappearance: 15 years old
Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 4'10; 90 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Brown hair; brown eyes.
Medical Conditions: Eaton is deaf in one ear.
    Dentals: She wore orthodontic braces.
Marks, Scars: She wears corrective lenses and has pierced ears.
Clothing: She was wearing a yellow shirt, blue denim shorts and sneakers.
    DNA: In CODIS

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Circumstances of Disappearance
Eaton was last seen on May 17, 1975. A sophomore at Penncrest High School, "Whizzie'' stayed at home on Mocassin Lane to sunbathe on the roof outside her bedroom window while while her parents and brother went to play golf at the country club.
When the family returned home about 7 p.m., they found Wendy's bathing suit on her bed.
Several neighbors last saw her walking to the intersection of Indian Lane and Media Station Road, three blocks from her home in the Indian Trails development, about 3:10 p.m. The family suspects she was on her way to Media to buy her brother a birthday gift.
Bloodhounds tracked her movement to the intersection of Indian Lane and Media Station Road, where she was last seen. But no further trace of her was ever found.
Wendy's disappearance coincided with the slayings of several other girls whose remains were found in the Tinicum Marsh area, but no evidence has ever been found that would link Wendy to those victims.
Authorities said that Wendy was a girl very unlikely to have run away on her own.
She planned to attend a singing group rehearsal at their church on the night she vanished. Her relatives stated that Eaton would not have missed the rehearsal.

This one looks interesting becaue this girl vanished from a shopping center, the same time of day the Lyon sisters vanished. Note the time she left home, and the time she was last seen. AND there was rain after the abduction. I know counting on the rain is like counting on gold to fall out of the sky, but I wonder if this abductor counts on rain because it will hinder the search??

    http://bakerst221b.blogspot.com/2006/06/remembering-sherri-lee-truesdale.html

Sherri’s parents reported her missing June 14, the day after she went missing. When she did not come home they spent the night searching for her. After not being able to find her, they thought she might have drowned in one of the creeks at Happy Hill Park. It had rained heavily that night and there was flooding.

No trace of Sherri has ever been found.

The "Possible Connections" thread in this featured case already has quite a few similar cases listed. Most of the cases posted there have their own thread in the "Cold Cases" section of Websleuths.

It is in the Cold Cases area where folks usually discuss in detail each individual case.

In regard to similarities with the Lyon Case, however, I think it a good idea to compare these cases. It is through patterns and possible connections that old cases can sometimes be solved. I included a thread on the Kathy Lynn Beatty Case in this featured section, because of the close proximity in both time and geography between Kathy's abduction and murder and the disappearance of the Lyon sisters.

Richard, I was wondering where you were.I did think about the possible connections thread before I started this one. The PC thread discusses all types of things that could be related to this case. I wanted a thread to post just similar cases and discuss them.
