A Bell County jury sentenced Milton Britt Crowe to life in prison with a $10,000 fine on Tuesday, after hearing from expert witnesses, family members of the victim and the defendant himself...

Crowe took out a life insurance policy on he and his wife two months before the incident, but whether he did so with the intention of killing his wife was left unclear.

Garza argued however, that it looked bad "from the front end" and "from the back end." He said it looked bad that Crowe had bought the policies shortly before the murder, and also that he spent the money, $100,000, while knowing full well he was responsible for her death. An extra $10,000 was also given to Crowe from Linda's employer's policy.
