MN - Dan Zamlen, St. Paul, 5 April 2009

    http://www.startribune.com/local/stp...Unciaec8O7EyUr

..."The last thing I heard was, 'Oh, my gosh, Anna, where are you? Help!'" Chappuis said.
    ..

According to the story in the link above, he left a party by himself near Mississippi Blvd in St. Paul. He was talking to a friend on his cell phone when he said that and the conversation was cut off. They haven't heard from him since.

This young man was presumeably walking on the paved riverside trail if he was near Mississippi Blvd and St. Clair Ave. This trail is very visible, highly used during daylight hours, is one of the best trails in the Twin Cities and is well above the river.

Sorry that the last part of my post was deleted because the information I gave was correct, as stated by the Pioneer Press. Here's the article.

Here's an update. Note the statement re: family concerns.

Please also check out the map on the above reference. Assuming the cell record is correct and assuming the young man was headed for his residence after he left the party, he walked west on St. Clair - four blocks in the wrong direction. Streets in that area are paved with sidewalks. Cretin, which runs N/S is heavily used with walks on both sides of the street. Why didn't he walk north on Finn or Cretin, both of which would have led to his residence?

The news is slim. There was supposed to be a water search on Thurs, although this search was cancelled on Wed because the water was high/fast/dangerous, so I don't know if it took place. Dogs have not found his scent below the bluffs. No evidence of a slide, etc. The Ford Dam is downstream a bit less than a mile. I'm sure LE are looking there. Prayers for Dan.

This cleared up a question I had. In reading the first news article, I thought he was concerned about a friend and took off to go help that friend.
This article states he was on the cell with a friend and the friend heard him say,
'oh my God, help.' and the call ended.

Discussion on above site seems to point to NOT being in the river.

He is a type 1 diabetic, on an insulin pump and had been drinking.

    Prayers for Dan..

This article lists a University site, as well.

    Dan's birthday was Wed., April 8, 2009.

I was just thinking about this young man on my drive home from work a few minutes ago. I hope he is found soon.

Reading the forum after the article:
Now, police say that they are unsure if Dan said he needed help while on cell with friend.
Supposedly, friend was in a car coming to pick him up. He saw headlights, thinking it was him, she told him to walk toward the headlights. During that talk, she allegedly heard him say, 'oh my God. Help.'
Dogs tracked his scent to a street intersection, St Clair and E Missiissippi River Blvd.

It seems likely something happened at the street. Was he picked up by the friend? Was he picked up by someone else?
Did someone hit him, hit and run accident, and then took him, injured or other, away?

Was this a fraternity hazing prank? Go wrong?

    We need more answers.

Fraternities would be hazing in late fall rather than early spring.

I agree that something happened at the intersection. Your scenario of someone hitting him, as in a hit and run, could be correct, but it would seem like LE would have found evidence linking DZ to an accident.
