Authorities find missing woman's car in Monahans

Authorities found a missing Midland County woman's Lincoln Towncar at a roadside park outside of Monahans Tuesday but said Wednesday they still have not been able to find the woman.

The vehicle was located at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Interstate 20 near mile marker 70 in the westbound lane.

The car was found locked up and the keys were not found; the vehicle also didn't appear to have had any apparent mechanical difficulties.

Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said the incident has been upgraded as a missing person with suspicious circumstances.

"We fear the worst," he said Wednesday at a press conference. "It just looks like whoever stepped out of the car vanished."
She reportedly made the comment shortly after midnight April 2 that she was going for one last ride in the car before it was to be repossessed.
