GUILTY CA - Naomi Mendez, 43, disabled, dies of extreme neglect, Covina, 27 Feb 2007

The sisters were responsible for providing care for their mother at the time of her death, said Sgt. Trevor Gaumer of the Covina Police Department.

Mendez had a limited ability to speak and required a walker to move around.

She required the assistance of her daughters with bathing, using the bathroom and eating, Gaumer said.

The investigation began on Feb. 27, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. when Covina police were dispatched with county fire personnel to a call of a dead body inside a home at 1348 N. Edenfield Ave, Gaumer said.

Mendez's body was found nude in a room littered with urine and feces.

There were no obvious signs of physical abuse, although her emaciated body weighed 78 pounds.

God! The article states that there was no obvious signs of abuse! Well, what do you call it that the mother was found naked in a room covered with urine and feces????? I know they mean physical abuse, but this type of abuse and neglect is horrendous as well.

I am afraid these twin sisters will not get LWOP and that is what they so richly deserve! :furious:

Twin sisters have been sentenced to three years in state prison after pleading no contest to elder abuse...

A Pomona Superior Court commissioner immediately sentenced Justine and Jasmine Rosales after the women entered their pleas on Tuesday.
