26 April 09

The children of a missing 66-year-old River Valley man say they're still holding on to their father's legacy of faith, and are hoping their dad will show up soon, despite Sebastian County Sheriff's Officials calling off the search.

Just a few hundred feet from the home in Jenny Lind where he was staying with relatives, 66-year-old Billy "Butch" Wheeler disappeared, and was reported missing, early Tuesday morning.

Now, after almost a week of searching, sheriff's officials are giving up the hunt. But for Billy's family, it's a different story.

Human Remains Found In Jenny Lind Area

A skull and other skeletal remains were found Tuesday in a dried up creek bed in the Jenny Lind area, and Sebastian County investigators are attempting to determine an identity.

Maj. Kevin Nickson of the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office said there is no way to know who the remains, found a couple hundred yards from Elmwood Cutoff Road, belong to. The only person reported missing from the Jenny Lind area over the past few years was 66-year-old Billy “Butch” Wheeler. Wheeler, who suffered from Parkinson’s disease, was found missing from a Booth Road residence at 6 a.m. on April 21, 2009
