9-year-old missing from birthday party Later found sexually assaulted, beaten
This happened about 20minutes away from where I live.
Girl's injuries called `indescribable'
A 9-year-old girl who went missing from a Richmond Hill birthday party and turned up 90 minutes later suffered "indescribable" injuries before she was sexually assaulted.
"It was the most shocking thing I've ever seen," said Detective Constable Jim Killby, a 16-year veteran of York Region police.
The girl, whose disappearance sparked a massive police hunt early Sunday, is recovering at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. The search, which involved about 50 officers and a helicopter, led 10 kilometres from the residence where the party was held to a house in Vaughan, where police arrested a fleeing man and recovered the girl from a garage.
The party began at about 7 p.m. Saturday at a home on Jane St., where the victim and suspect were guests. The girl's grandparents took her to the party, which included about 20 people in the backyard.
After midnight on Sunday, party-goers noticed that one of the guests was missing, along with the girl. Police were called, setting in motion a sweep of the neighbourhood.
Using infrared technology and acting on tips, a police helicopter tracked the suspect east to a Lennox Ave. residence in Richmond Hill, near Yonge St. and Major Mackenzie Dr.
At 2 a.m., a cry for help brought officers to an unused garage, where the girl was found. A man trying to flee the property was arrested after a struggle.
The suspect, who moved to the area two weeks earlier, was unknown to York police, or to Peel police from his time living in Mississauga.
According to police, the suspect is a truck driver who has travelled extensively in the United States.
Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened in the 90 minutes during which the girl was missing. "Our victim is traumatized," Killby said. "We're not pushing the issue."

My question is who in the heck was this party for, anyway? If it was a kid's party, what was this guy doing there? If it was an adult's party, what was the girl doing there?Just the facts, Ma'am.
