Upated: 5:22 p.m. Richland County Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help in locating a missing Charlotte woman who was seen in Columbia on May 6, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a prepared statement.
Nikki Mcphatter was believed to be driving a 2003 black, four-door Honda Accord with a North Carolina tag labeled "PHATTAH." Witnesses saw her in Columbia about 1:30 p.m. May 6; about 6 p.m. the same day, a man wearing a white T-shirt with "staff" written on the back tried to use Mcphatter's credit cards at an ATM at 8800 Farrow Road, Lott said.
A surveillance video at the ATM showed the man was in a gold four-door vehicle, Lott said.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the victim was believed to be driving a black in color 2003 4-door Honda Accord with North Carolina Tag 'PHATTAH' traveling south toward Columbia, South Carolina.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department believes foul play is involved with Mcphatter's disappearance, Lott said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (888) CRIMES-SC.

CHARLOTTE — Nikki McPhatter, 30, of Charlotte, has not been seen since May 4. Police said Wednesday they suspect she was a victim of foul play.
Two men captured on bank surveillance tapes in Columbia trying to use a bank card belonging to the missing Charlotte woman are “subjects of interest” in the case, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Nikki McPhatter, 30, a US Airways ticket agent who lives in northwestern Charlotte, was last seen May 4 at work. She hasn’t been heard from since she called a friend May 6 while in Columbia, saying she was out of gas.
The friend told Charlotte-Mecklenburg police McPhatter didn’t answer her phone a short time later.
Between 6:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. that day, a camera at the Wachovia bank branch on Farrow Road in Columbia got footage of the two men. The video shows one man walking away from a drive-up teller machine and getting into a car. Bank records show that was the same time someone unsuccessfully tried using the woman’s card at the bank.
“Obviously, we still have a lot of questions in this case,” said Capt. Pete Davis, of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.
During a news conference Wednesday, police described a search that has focused on Charlotte and Columbia.
While McPhatter’s last known contact with others was May 6, police said her black Honda — with the N.C. license tag “PHATTAH” — has been reported being spotted several times in the Charlotte area recently.
Davis said police have been working with their counterparts in Columbia, but they also are questioning friends and family in Charlotte. They also searched McPhatter’s home and confiscated two computers. Detectives declined to say whether they had learned anything from the contents of the computers.
“We’re trying to get information from as many sources as possible,” Detective Ron Flagg said.
Reports of McPhatter’s car being spotted in the Charlotte area have been perplexing.
“We have received numerous tips, with descriptions of several different people operating the vehicle,” Flagg said. “We don’t know why it is being reported seen in so many different places.”
McPhatter is African-American, 5-feet-5 and 150 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was driving a black 2003 Honda Accord.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police ask that anyone with information, or anyone spotting McPhatter’s vehicle, to call (704) 36-6034. That number can be called 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    Facebook Group

There is a group on Facebook called "Help Find Nikki McPhatter". It is hosted by her good friend Fran Eddings. Fran organized the recent search this past weekend and appears to be the main organizer of the search efforts and has been handing out flyers etc.

So disappointing. I was hoping AMW would lead to tips that would bring her home safely.

Gadsden man charged in slaying of missing woman

A Gadsden man was arrested Friday after Richland County sheriff’s investigators found what are believed to be the skeletal remains of a missing Charlotte woman in the trunk of a burned car in Fairfield County.

Theodore R. Manning IV, 29, of Bluff Road, is charged with murder in the death of 30-year-old Nikki McPhatter, Richland County sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Chris Cowan said.

The woman was killed somewhere in Richland County several weeks ago, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said. The fire also was set several weeks ago. It burned an area about 15 feet around the car.

Preliminary autopsy results show the woman died of a gunshot wound to the head, Watts said. The woman is an African-American, between the ages of 25 and 40, and investigators believe it may be McPhatter, but no positive identification has been made.

Watts is trying to locate McPhatter’s dentist to obtain dental records. “That’s gonna be the quickest way to identify her,” Watts said.

Witness connects suspect to missing woman's murder

He was first referred to as a witness. Now that same man is the prime suspect in a missing Charlotte woman's murder… and her friends say they're not surprised.
An arrest warrant lists a detailed witness account as the reason for Teddy Manning's arrest surrounding the death
The warrant says a witness was there on May 6th when Manning used Nikki McPhatter's credit card and disposed of her car and body.
The coroner says it appears the U.S. Airways ticket agent was shot in the head and her body burned beyond recognition.
Among Nikki McPhatters friends, there is little surprise that she was apparently found dead or surprised at the man who is now charged in her murder.

    Unhappy

This is so sad. I wish investigators had taken Nikki's friends seriously earlier on when they had mentioned Teddy. They kept saying he was just a witness. I wish we knew if robbery was the true motive or if it had to do with her breaking up with him?
