Fort Townshend - On May 17, 2001, human remains were found in a wooded area off Minerals Road, Conception Bay South. Following the find, an extensive search was conducted of the area in an attempt to find additional body parts. None were found.
Since the find, a team of investigators have been diligent in their determination to identify the remains and the cause of death. In cooperation with Dr. Simon Avis, Chief Medical Officer for the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, investigators have engaged the services of experts from the Halifax Crime Laboratory, the Bureau of Legal Dentistry in Vancouver and the RCMP Crime Laboratory in Ottawa. As a result, investigators now have a DNA profile of the deceased, dental records and a reconstruction of the possible facial features of the individual.

With these results, investigators can now say that the remains that met with foul play are those of a male between the ages of 20 and 40 with long shoulder length hair. It is also felt that the remains were placed in the Minerals Road area within the past 10 years. It is also felt that this male either had a Newfoundland connection or was visiting the province. A photo of a reconstruction possible likeness is attached.

Persons with information about either identity or the demise of the deceased male is asked to contact the lead investigators, Cst. N. Stanford noels@gov.nf.ca or Sgt. B. Constantine bconstantine@gov.nf.ca at (709) 729-8015.
