One year ago, the two ate breakfast together. Around 1 p.m. on June 16, Caylee hugged George and kissed him goodbye as she walked out the door with her mom, Casey.
George Anthony never dreamed that it would be the last time he would ever see his granddaughter, or that a year later, people would be leaving stuffed animals, roses and toys at a makeshift memorial for the toddler.
Though the memorial was removed last month, as of 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, there were a half dozens stuffed animals and at least two signs. One read "Cindy don't touch," the other read, "and you too George."
But just half an hour later, the signs were gone and so were the stuffed animals. A one of George and Cindys neighbor put it, the public has had their time to mourn, now they want their neighborhood back.
