Woman Allegedly Uses Sick Daughter To Get Money For Drug Habit
Daughter Has Leukemia, Which Is In Remission
UPPER DARBY, Pa. -- The homeless mother of a child stricken with leukemia was charged with using a photograph of her daughter to solicit money and spending almost $4,000 that she collected to support her crack-cocaine drug habit.
Lisa Sue Yeager, 36, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of theft by deception, receiving stolen property and violation of the Health and Safety Act for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
District Justice Michael Cullen Yeager scheduled a preliminary hearing for June 16. Yeager was transferred to the Delaware County prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Detective Lt. George Rhoades Jr. said Yeager allegedly approached a plain clothes investigator seeking a donation, was taken to the police station, and allegedly admitted collecting money but using it for her drug addiction and other expenses.
