Norman Isaac had dropped off his nephew, Albert Lee Baker, at the hospital after Baker complained of chest pains on a spring day in 1988.

Sometime that afternoon, Baker, 34, slipped out of Wuesthoff Medical Center-Rockledge, and was not seen or heard from again.

A succession of investigators have looked at the case since. There are very few clues. And there have been no breakthroughs.

"There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t think about him,” said James Baker, Albert’s brother. “Not knowing is the hardest part.’

Police said they have gone after leads in West Palm Beach, as well as Nevada, South Carolina and south Georgia, but none have provided any answers.

Baker has no criminal history and no history of substance abuse. His DNA is in a number of databases for law enforcement.

Police called this case mysterious and very out of the ordinary.
