Detectives are continuing to search for a missing 89-year-old woman who wandered away from her home in the 3300 block of Cliff Drive last weekend.

The woman, Metta Thomsen, suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, authorities said, and was last seen at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. She was wearing blue denim pants, a blue shirt, white tennis shoes and a tan coat.

Police described Thomsen as 5-foot-7, with a medium build and gray, collar-length hair. Police officers, search-and-rescue teams and police dogs searched throughout the weekend for the 89-year-old, but have failed to locate her.

    Still missing.

As of Monday noon, July 20, son Mike informed me that Metta has still not been found.

The police has begun their standard investigative procedure for missing persons after a certain period of time - starting with a search warrant on Metta's family.

    Reported by: Sarah Spotten

The Santa Barbara Police Department has identified the body found Monday in the Hope Ranch area of Santa Barbara as that of a woman missing since June.

89-year-old Metta Thomsen went missing from her home in Santa Barbara back in June. She suffered from Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

On Monday, police and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a body found in the Hope Ranch area. Police say Tuesday the body was positively identified as that of Thomsen.
