The family of a Rocky Mount woman who disappeared more than five months ago is pleading for anyone with information about the case to come forward.

Bruce Tucker said he prays his daughter, 37-year-old Yolanda “Snap” Lancaster, is still alive, and he hopes investigators and community activists don’t give up their search.

A search team from Johnston County helped canvass swampy and wooded fields in rural Edgecombe County on Wednesday, joining a task force investigation into the murders of at least six black Rocky Mount women who have been found dead along the same rural stretch since 2003.

Investigators have been searching for three other missing Rocky Mount women whose profiles are similar to the victims.

A spokeswoman from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a 13-member search and rescue team had been dispatched to assist the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office in searching areas off Seven Bridges Road, a couple miles outside Rocky Mount.

Police are searching for at least three missing women – Yolanda “Snap” Lancaster, 37, Joyce Renee Durham, 46, and Christine Boone, 43 – in connection with the investigation.

Juray Tucker was attending a memorial service for a slain woman when she learned Saturday afternoon that another set of skeletal remains had been found along Seven Bridges Road in rural Edgecombe County.

Tucker’s daughter, Yolanda “Snap” Lancaster, has been missing since February 2009, and she prays the remains found Saturday don’t make her daughter one of the latest in a string of slain Rocky Mount women. The bodies of eight women and one man – all black and with similar backgrounds – have been found in similar conditions around the area since 2003.

Tucker fears the latest set of remains could be the 10th such victim, but she hopes they're not.

I also posted a lot of articles in this case on the other thread about all the murders in Edgecombe County. Prayers for the Lancaster family.

The skeletal remains found on Monday were located in northern Edgecombe County, where the remains of five other women have been discovered along Seven Bridges Road since 2005. The bodies of two others were found a short distance away, and an eighth was found in Halifax County, near Scotland Neck.

All of the women found have been African American. Some had a history of substance abuse and prostitution. The victims' families have said some of the women knew one another.

it would seem a serial killer is still at large, they have 10? bodies in this area since 2005. they have a suspect under grand jury indictment for one of the murders.

but another girl went missing 12/20/2010, aimee lynn pitt 22 year old that seems to fit the profile.

150 miles due south is wilmington nc, where another serial killer is active.

Aimee Lynn Pitt is a Caucasian woman, and I see no indication that she was involved in drugs and/or prostitution.

AFAIK, all of the the other women were African American involved in high-risk lifestyles.

Pitt missing person's case is not related to the other murder case.

Pitt went missing on the 30th; therefore, IMO, skeletal remains would not be the appropriate wording where as in the other case, the description would be appropriate.

Also, the suspected murderer is still in jail and LE are still looking the remains of 2 bodies. These remains are probably one of those.

And as stated - Pitt was caucasian and purportedly not into drugs or prostitution.

NC sheriff: Human remains are of missing woman

Sheriff James L. Knight issued a statement Friday saying the remains found on Monday are those of Yolanda Renee Lancaster, a Rocky Mount woman who was reported missing on March 31, 2009.
