UPDATED: State Deposes Cindy Anthony

Prosecutors are moving forward in the Case Against Casey.

They deposed their very first witness in the case Tuesday.

Cindy Anthony didn&#8217;t say a word while walking out of the Orange County Courthouse around 5 p.m. The family&#8217;s attorney, Brad Conway, said very little as well.

However, more than 100 people are on the state's witness list. They started with the people they feel will help their case the most.

The deposition will resume Wednesday at 9 a.m.

In addition to Cindy, George Anthony is expected to be deposed Wednesday afternoon, and then Casey&#8217;s brother, Lee, sometime after that.

Cindy Anthony returned Wednesday for a second round of questioning. Her attorney, Brad Conway, told News 13 it's going to be another long day.

Casey's father, George Anthony, was scheduled to be deposed at 1 p.m. Tuesday, but prosecutors decided to keep asking Cindy questions.

George&#8217;s deposition has been postponed until sometime next week.

Lee Anthony&#8217;s attorney, Tom Luka, said they are going forward with Lee&#8217;s deposition at 9 a.m. Thursday.

&#8220;This is nothing like the frivolous suit. This is very respectful and dignified. The state is doing what lawyers should be doing,&#8221; said Jose Baez, Casey&#8217;s attorney.

Prosecutors questioned Casey Anthony's mother under oath today as part of the criminal case against the 23-year-old woman.

It's unclear what the attorneys quizzed Cindy Anthony about in the closed-dooring meeting at the State Attorney's Office.

Today marked the second day of questioning for Cindy Anthony.

Her husband, George Anthony, is expected to follow. It's unclear if prosecutors will have time to question him today, according to their attorney, Brad Conway.

The depositions will become public if either side files the transcripts in the court file -- but they are not required to file the transcripts.

WFTV-Channel 9 reported at noon that George Anthony could be questioned later today.

"It's unclear how long Cindy will be questioned," WFTV's tireless Kathi Belich said. "We're told that she will be questioned again this afternoon. But a source tells Channel 9 that when prosecutors are done with Cindy, George will also be questioned under oath. Both of them have changed their stories a number of times."

The public might not learn what the Anthonys said until possibly the trial, Belich said, unless either side asked for a transcript that would become public record.

Cindy Anthony, mother of accused murderer Casey Anthony, will be back in court on Wednesday at 9 a.m. Casey's father George will be questioned by state prosecutors in the afternoon and brother Lee is scheduled for questioning on Thursday.

A source close to the case tells FOX 35 that said all three are listed as witnesses for the prosecution. Last week, the Anthony's had to turn over information to the State Attorney's Office. They did so before they were scheduled to go in front the judge. The murder case against Casey was supposed to start in October, but that has been pushed back to next year at the earliest.

The Anthonys left the State Attorney's Office shortly before noon. They told WESH 2 cameras that they were hungry and heading to lunch, but not much else. The depositions finished at about 7:15 p.m.

Jose Baez, Casey Anthony's attorney, also offered little insight into the specific questions Cindy Anthony answered for hours behind closed doors in her second day of sworn deposition. However, when it was all over with on Wednesday, Baez said Cindy Anthony's deposition was civil and she gave thorough answers.

Defense attorney Richard Hornsby said Baez could learn a lot in these sessions just based on the state's questions.

"That's a gold mine for him to know. It gives him insight into what they're thinking," Hornsby said.

At the same time, he said prosecutors have to ask Cindy a lot of questions because they don't know what Baez's defense will be.

This comes as the public is expecting another large release of evidence in the case as early as Thursday.

Lee Anthony, Casey Anthony's brother, is scheduled to be deposed at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Cindy was at the courthouse again with her lawyer, Brad Conway, and Casey's lawyer, Jose Baez, after answering questions for nearly four hours on Tuesday. There are a lot of issues the Anthonys have not been questioned about under oath since Caylee's remains were found down the street from their house in December, including evidence taken from their house that investigators say match evidence found with Caylee in the woods.

It's unclear how long Cindy will be questioned, but a source told Eyewitness News that when prosecutors are done with Cindy, George will also be questioned under oath. Both have changed their stories a number of times when talking to investigators, to the media and even under oath for the Zenaida Gonzalez civil suit.

Even though there was a video camera rolling during the deposition in the defamation lawsuit case, there are no cameras rolling for the depositions for the murder case and, unless one of the lawyers asks for a transcript, the public might not learn what the Anthonys told prosecutors until the trial, which isn't expected to happen until sometime in 2010.

Another long day for Casey Anthony&#8217;s mother Cindy Wednesday as lawyers spent hours grilling her about her daughter Casey and the death of her granddaughter Caylee.

The depositions are the state's chance to see what the Anthony&#8217;s will say at trial. Wednesday afternoon FOX 35 asked Casey&#8217;s attorney Jose Baez if he thinks these depositions will hurt Casey&#8217;s defense. George Anthony already testified before the grand jury that indicted his daughter on first degree murder charges. When asked what the state was asking Casey&#8217;s family Baez wouldn't reveal much. &#8220;It&#8217;s respectful and dignified. The state is doing what lawyers should be doing.&#8221;

Cindy was deposed all day long Wednesday and George Anthony is also scheduled to be deposed(sometime next week). Lee Anthony&#8217;s deposition is scheduled to take place on Thursday(at 9AM).

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer theorized that prosecutors may be preparing to cast Cindy as a hostile witness. Belich said prosecutors at trial could confront Casey's parents about any inconsistencies in their statements.

"A lying witness doesn't help the defense," Sheaffer said.

WESH-Channel 2's Bob Kealing explained Cindy's possible importance to the prosecution and defense. WESH analyst Richard Hornsby, a defense attorney, speculated that Baez could use Cindy as "a villain character" to defend Casey's actions. "I don't think a jury is going to warm to her," Hornsby said of Cindy.

Cindy could help the state prove motive. The state "has to ask her [Cindy] as much as they can to pin her down in case she tries to change her story at trial to protect Casey," Kealing said.

Thursday should be a busy day in the Anthony saga, the stations said in previews. Lee Anthony, Casey's brother, will be deposed at 9 a.m. tomorrow, and 1,500 pages of discovery could be released. George Anthony will be questioned next week.
