Not sure if I should put this here or crimes in the news. The suspect robbed a bank and held a gun to a womans head the day after he was seen at the store using Matts bank card. You can see the pictures of him in the video to the right.

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - Hundreds gathered Wednesday night for an emotional vigil to pray for Matt Landry. He's missing, and there are fears he crossed paths with a teenager charged in a crime spree. Matt vanished Sunday, and the worry is he fell into a tangled web that involves carjacking, robbery and kidnapping.

My prayers are with Matt and his family. It's so scary to think that you can be kidnapped in broad daylight like that.

The suspect is disgusting. Smiling at the camera and knowing whether he had any involvement (obviously he did when you compare the two people in the surviellance video) in Matt's disappearance.

Police find body in vacant house

Detroit Police have discovered a body of a white male inside a vacant home near Gratiot and 7 Mile.

Police spokesman John Roach would not confirm whether the body is that of missing 21-year-old Chesterfield Township resident Matt Landry.

However, sources told the Free Press that Roseville Police are also at the scene.

Landry has been missing since Sunday and is feared to be the victim of a carjacking and kidnapping.

Law enforcement agencies in Macomb County are investigating whether a 17-year-old Flint teen -- arraigned Wednesday in a Roseville carjacking and expected to be arraigned today on charges of robbing a Harrison Township bank while holding a pistol to the head of a female customer -- was involved in Landry's disappearance.

Roseville Police discovered the body of a white male this morning in a burned-out house in Detroit as part of a regional task force looking for the body of 21-year-old Matt Landry of Chesterfield Township.

Eastpointe Police Chief Michael Lauretti told reporters today that police arrived at the scene acting on a tip and found the body at 10:40 a.m. inside the burned-out home near Gratiot and 7 Mile. He said they believe the body is that of Landry, but could not speak with certainty until medical examiners arrived at the scene.

He said the man found had a single gunshot wound, but the exact cause of death has not been determined.

Ihab MasalmaniIhab Masalmani, the 17-year-old Flint native charged with carjacking, a bank robbery, and possibly connected to the disappearance of another man, was arraigned on six felony counts in court today.

This is the second recent court appearance for Masalmani. Today, he was arraigned for a bank robbery in Harrison Township; on Wednesday, he was arraigned for a carjacking in Roseville.

Police are investigating if he is also tied to the disappearance of the still-missing Matt Landry, who was allegedly carjacked and kidnapped in Eastpointe. Landry has been missing since Sunday; his car was found on Detroit's east side.

WDIV reports that Masalmani pressed a gun to a bank customer's head and said he would kill her if he didn't get $50,000.
"I thought it was a joke at first, but he kept saying he had a gun," the customer told WDIV. "I thought I was going to die."

The customer fell to the ground and said "no" when Masalmani tried to kidnap her from the bank. He did manage to leave with a sum of cash, but he did so leaving everyone in the bank unharmed.

Today's charges for Maslamani include armed bank robbery, felony firearm and kidnapping. During Wednesday's arraignment, Masalmani laughed and spit on the floor after being accused of trying to carjack a Roseville teen in front of a Wal-Mart.

Police are also investigating Masalmani's possible role in Landry's disappearance. A surveillance video allegedly shows Masalmani buying a shirt at a gas station where Landry used his ATM card before he disappeared.

Body indentified as missing 21-year-old man
George Hunter, Christine Ferretti and Charles E. Ramirez / The Detroit News

Chesterfield Township -- The body found Thursday in a burned-out house near 7 Mile and Gratiot on Detroit's eastside has been identified through dental records today by the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office as 21-year-old Matthew Landry.

Ihab Maslamani, 17, has been charged with a Roseville carjacking and a Harrison Township bank robbery, and police say they have evidence linking him to Landry of Chesterfield Township, who had been missing since Sunday.

. . .

Regardless of whether Maslamani is implicated in Landry's murder, immigration officials have begun the process to deport him to his native Lebanon.

"We have placed an immigration detainer on him," U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Khaalid Walls said. "Once his criminal issues are adjudicated, he'll enter into deportation proceedings."

. . .

Rest in Peace Matt. My prayers for your family and friends during this time of profound grief. May justice be swift and mighty for your murder.

~Kat~

This 17 year old suspect appears to have some problems that need some professional attention. I am inclined to think he has suffered mentally. First it was reported he was from Liberia now they say Lebanon. Even talking about deporting him.
Dental records proved it is Matt. My condolences to his family.

Just watched the show tonight and feel incredibly sad for Matt's parents, Bob and Doreen Landry, his siblings, beautiful girlfriend Fran, bandmates, many friends and others who were so blessed to know and love this amazing young man.

The two young men charged and convicted of ending his life with a bullet to the back of the head and leaving his body to rot in an abandoned burned out hellhole will live behind bars for the rest of their miserable, worthless lives. But they will live.

RIP Matt I wish I could have known you.

Two men convicted of carjacking, abducting and murdering Matthew Landry five years ago are to be back in a Macomb County courtroom this week for evidentiary hearings before they are resentenced in the slaying that occurred when they were juveniles.

A hearing is set for Ihab Maslamani, now 22, on Tuesday in Macomb County Circuit Court. Robert Taylor, now 21, has a hearing scheduled Thursday in circuit court.

They were teens when they were convicted in 2010 in the death of Landry, 21, of Chesterfield Township. They were sentenced to life in prison without parole. Because of a broader court ruling regarding the constitutionality of life sentences for juveniles, they are up for resentencing.

From January:

"Relieved." That's how Doreen Landry, the mother of Matthew Landry - who was randomly abducted and murdered in 2009 - felt after a Macomb County judge ruled today that her son's two killers were properly sentenced to life in prison without parole.

"The image of them walking Matthew from one house, into another house; putting him on his knees; putting a gun to the back of his head; shooting him, is an image that wakes me up in the middle of the night in a panic," she said after Ihab Maslamani and Robert Taylor were resentenced in Circuit Court.

"I have to live with that. That's my life sentence. And there's nothing that's gonna lighten that for me. So why should their sentence be lightened?"
