From August 29, 2009 (referring to Aug 30):

Sherri-Lyn Miller, who has used her San Leandro shop, All in One Stop, to print up T-shirts with Hasanni's image to publicize the case and raise funds for the search, said the foster parents' arrests won't slow her volunteer effort to locate the boy.

"There's still a 5-year-old child that's missing. I'm putting a search team together and leaving my store at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning," she said. about 15 to 20 volunteers will caravan to the Monterey area, where Ross has lived in the past. "As far as trying to find him, nothing has changed.

"We just have two less people to look for him, and now that they're in custody the public has no more excuse for not helping to look for this child."

I'm hoping the vigil today will produce some more info on the search.

The article posted above also states...

"A search of Lake Elizabeth in Fremont has been organized for Saturday morning. Volunteers said they intend to continue to hold weekly vigils for Hasanni until he is found"

I wonder if this search is organized by LE or by volunteers? The article doesn't make it very clear. At least we know someone is still searching.

Bumping to this thread. Thanks Paintr!

O/T

Thanks to people like Paintr and AWC for their news update skillz, and to the locals who keep us informed from the ground, and to SF for the map help.

I really believe we should be more concentrated on the search efforts - finding Hasanni is not only a moral imperative, it is the key to this case, I think.

THANKS!

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Volunteers searching for missing 5-year-old Hasanni Campbell have discovered clothes similar to those the boy disappeared in over a month ago at the dead-end of a road in Oakland.

The search volunteers found a grey sweatshirt, a red sock, and other children's clothes partially buried at the end of Chabot Road in Oakland, according to Oakland police sgt. Arturo Bautista.

The volunteers immediately contacted Oakland police, who have since roped off the area.

Thomason said there haven't been any new tips in the case in recent weeks and police do not condone the private searches such as the one conducted on Sunday.

However, Sherri-Lyn Miller, a San Leandro print shop owner who has been organizing regular searches for Hasanni, said today that there will be another search for the boy in Hayward and Fremont on Saturday.

Miller said volunteers will cover the same ground where law enforcement officials searched on Aug. 15.

FREMONT — Community members are planning to search Ardenwood Historic Farm on Saturday for 5-year-old Hasanni Campbell, the disabled Fremont boy who was reported missing on Aug. 10.

San Leandro print store owner Sherri Miller, who has organized several searches for the boy, said volunteers are needed at 8 a.m. Saturday at the park, which is at 34600 Ardenwood Boulevard in Fremont. Volunteers should meet at the main entrance.

However, Miller said that organizers will be searching Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont starting at 8 a.m. Saturday.

The search of that area was originally scheduled for last week, but was canceled due to permit issues, Miller said.

More than 75 people have already signed up to join the search, according to Miller. She said 124 people joined the last search, which took place near Lake Elizabeth in Fremont.
