TX - Jonette Hamilton Woods, 72, Dimmitt, 7 Sept 2009
11 Sept 09
It is a race against the clock for Dimmitt residents in the search for their friend who vanished on Monday.
Jonette Hamilton Woods suffers from Alzheimer's and is also on oxygen, which police do not believe she has with her.
A silver alert was issued by the Department of Public safety but expired on Wednesday.
That is why today, her friends formed what they call a "posse" to ensure her safe return.
Known in Dimmitt as Jo, 72 year old Jonette Hamilton Woods was last seen at the Allsup's around four Monday morning.
Jo's car is a 1996 white Mercury Cougar and police say she had a full tank of gas when she disappeared. Police want everyone to know if you see her or her car, do not touch anything.
Instead, call the police at 647-4545 or the Castro County Sheriff's Office at 647-3311 or 9-1-1.
Police also say they are still questioning Jo's husband as standard procedure. They would not say if they suspect foul play.

Family says Jo Woods' body discovered by authorities in NM
Two weeks after disappearing from her home in Dimmitt, family members say authorities discovered the body of Jo Woods in Colfax County, New Mexico.
A sad ending to this two week search, Jo Woods' grandson says he believes authorities discovered the body of his grandmother. Family members received the first piece of information in two weeks Monday morning that Jo Woods' 1996 Mercury Cougar was discovered 30 miles west of Raton, New Mexico.
The 72-year-old disappeared on September 7, without her medication or her oxygen; two things family members say Woods couldn't go for long without. NewsChannel 11 spoke with her grandson, Clint Robison, who lives in Lubbock earlier this afternoon. At the time he says the discovery of her car gave his family some hope and that the search would continue on. "It was found on a rancher's property and it was empty and stuck in the mud and keys found 15 feet from the car," says Robison.
He says he received a call shortly after 5 p.m. that authorities discovered a body near his grandmother's car on the rancher's property. Robison says the body authorities discovered was wearing the same clothing that his grandmother was reported missing in.
