Police are searching for a 22-year-old mother of two who has been missing since Saturday night.Juanita Marie Tovar was last seen by her brother, Juan Tovar, at her home about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Juan Tovar dropped off some cigarettes, and his sister told him she would be dropping by her brother's home the next day.
"I'll see you tomorrow with the kids," he recalled her saying.
She never showed, and her family fears she may have been a victim of foul play.
...her husband, Nicholas Castaneda, who was the last person to see her alive. Police said that since Juanita Tovar's disappearance, her husband had been taken into custody on an unrelated warrant for his arrest.
...there is a history of domestic violence between the couple. Smith said Castaneda was not a suspect but also had not been ruled out as one.

STOCKTON - The body of a woman found in Mormon Slough on Sunday has been tentatively identified as that of Juanita Tovar, missing for more than a week, but her family has no doubt.
"They're waiting on dental records," said Tovar's sister, Shana Vasquez. "But they identified her because of her tattoos."

Police are seeking information about the death of Juanita Marie Tovar, 22, who was found strangled to death Sept. 20, 2009, in the Mosher Slough area near South Pilgrim and East Anderson streets. Investigators believe she was killed at another location and then left in the slough. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Cliff Johnson of the Stockton Police Department at (209) 937-8323.
