    Dangerous Storms Drench the Southeast

At least two people died in floodwaters in Georgia and another was believed drowned in Tennessee as rows of thunderstorms drenched the Southeast, submerging some major highways in the Atlanta area and prompting flood warnings Monday.

ETA: I saw an incredible pic at the above link of water rushing over a dam.

A toddler was missing Monday afternoon after the child's home was swept away by floodwaters in Carroll County, and at least two other people were killed by rising water across metro Atlanta.

Rising water pushed the mobile home into Snake Creek at Horsley Drive, according to Carroll County fire department officials.

Rescuers pulled two adults and two children from the rain-swollen creek, but were unable to find the toddler.

My sister just left this weekend for a business trip to Atlanta. I hope she's okay.

My prayers go out to all the people affected in GA, TN, AL, etc.

They have closed schools in most of the metro Atlanta counties for tomorrow. Six deaths in the area to include a toddler.

A humongous tree uprooted from the drenched earth and smashed flat the pergola that my husband built me for Mother's Day 5 years ago.

We live in a forest and I am thinking of making everyone sleep in the basement tonight because it is not supposed to let up...!

It is no joke UGLY out there. Over 140 roads closed in Cobb County alone. All metro schools closed tomorrow, and some already closed Wednesday due to sewage/water issues.

Thousands without power, trees and power lines down.

But you still have to laugh at this:

So sorry! At least you know she is in good hands. I heard some kids were spending the night at their school b/c they couldn't get out! That would about kill me.

Any idea when this is supposed to let up? I wonder about the airports; are they operable?

Hopefully, the sun will peak through starting tomorrow. Today, rain off and on and we're trying to dry out.

I heard Athens isn't so bad...they didn't have to close UGA like they did KSU, GSU, Tech, etc...but some parts of Buckhead are under 26 feet of water!
