So here's my question.... If LE has a POI, why isn't the media releasing his name? I know this was asked before, but I'm asking again! Today's reports still continue to say "the family" and "the 23-year old son". Since when has the media been protective about identifing someone as a POI? Why does it appear that the media is waiting for the search warrants? Is it because this family has threatened to sue so the media wants to be sure to CYA?

This dude should be fair game by now and it is frustrating that we still can't post anything about him...... :(

It is a valid question. I am beginning to wonder about all the reports and wonder if it isn't the father instead of the son. We at least know it is a member of the family and right now...it is the only thing confirmed.

I do not recall ever seeing the media know exactly who the POI is and not report it. This amazes me as to how much control LE appears to have over them. Why?

I agree. Do you think the original media who reported the POI got it wrong? Maybe LE did not say POI? That doesn't make sense though, because the article that mentions the POI came out AFTER the searching was done and after LE said they did not find a smokin' gun. I'm going to find the article again ....

Okay here is the article: http://www.mynorthwest.com/?nid=11&sid=218861

It really sounds like this article was based on NEW info from LE and not just a regurgitation (sp?) of all the search info.

~snip~ Investigators now call the man whose home was searched over the weekend in the Lindsey Baum case a person of interest. ~end snip ~

There's an audio file attached to the article where they have the Sheriff's Deputy talking about why the guy is a POI.

Just a little bit OT
I was checking the jail bookings this morning
I found that Derek Ludington (sex offender we talked about a long time ago) was arrested again yesterday for failing to register (third time he's been arrested in 3 months--arrested 7/1 released 7/16, arrested again 7/22 released on 8/11, arrested again 9/29)

Why do they keep letting this guy out of jail? Keep him there he obviously can't play by the rules!

One of the things that has bothered me so much about this entire case is the mom's passive behavior. We've heard about her driving around in her car looking aimlessly, sitting by the phone and speaking at vigils but how do these help more than getting out there on foot and walking thru the weeds, looking in the woods, turning over every stone or looking into or behind things?
Why wasn't she supportive of the K-9 team who was called in by the aunt. Why didn't she call TM and TES at the beginning or why did she hire a public medial specialist? What exactly is the purpose of hiring this particular specialist? How has MB helped thru her services to search for Lindsey?
Vigils and flyers are nice but passing out flyers to the same people time after time doesn't help as much as pounding the ground and searching with the eyes. Vigils are also nice b/c it allows supporters to gather together and comfort each other.
But, the only thing that has the best chance of bringing Lindsey home is getting out there and searching and that includes everyone.

In her defense, they do not want family members searching for their missing children. There are many reasons, but it would be horrific if they found them in a bad way. MB is doing what she can at the moment, imo. I am sure she is probably emotionally drained after all this time. I am surprised she can still put one foot in front of the other in the morning when she wakes up to this nightmare.

Evidently, MB is taking her cues from LE. It is my understanding she was only following what they had told her at the time and hiring this chap was not supported by LE. Did she get bad advice? Possibly. However, she must have felt like it was the wrong thing to do when he showed up after someone else hired him. When a child goes missing, some very questionable people come out of the woodwork to offer their "help" and often they are grifters or worse. (Not saying he is one of those, but maybe she didn't know.)

A public media specialist is necessary in this day of technology to take on the challenges of getting the right message across and dealing with the public for people who have no experience in that arena. It can make an enormous difference in the perception of the public when it comes to volunteers and other things.

She did contact TES. With LRC and Klaas Kids Foundation being closer to the scene, it was reasonable for them to conduct the searches. It isn't that TES would not respond, but logistics play a role when you consider the cost to transport their equipment, horses, and people to WA state from Texas.

Right now, I would let LE continue on the path they are following and wait to see if the POI turns up something. If it is a dead end then it would be a good time to call in TES.

The vigils are good not only for the family, but the community. They are all experiencing this loss of Lindsey. Pulling together to support each other is necessary for the adults and especially for the children. Her friends and classmates are dealing with the loss every day when they do not see her at school.

OK...there is more than one house on the property. It could be the son owns the house and we missed it somehow. He would then be the homeowner who is threatening to sue.

Then again, it could be the father. I got the distinct impression in the other article the man threatening to sue was more of a father figure going after the media and others for his son. There wasn't anything in the piece which led me to that conclusion directly, but the way it was written could sound like he was the intended target. Make sense?

I want the SWs today!! Why do they have to wait?! One day makes no difference, imo. The story will be the lead in every media outlet anyway.

Hi SS - There are two houses with two different addresses. The 40yo man lives with a 45 yo woman. The 40yo man is listed as owner on at least one document. The 45yo woman is listed as owner on other docs. Not sure if they are married or brother and sister. The 23 yo has a 49 yo (father, brother?) who lives elsewhere...I can't place the 49yo in the home nor can I place the 23 yo as living in either home. The 23yo has one misd charge of possession... This is so complicated...my guess is that either the boys father, uncle or ? (49yo - who has quite a criminal history) or the 40yo man living in the house is the POI. Just a guess but maybe a good one. I would be surprised if the 23 yo is the POI... :waitasec:

Hi Salem, I wrote a post to Animal about that very same thing and she didn't answer me?

ETA: I qualilfy my post to say I base this on yesterday's article where the journo stated in the body of the article the 'young 23 yr old man', whereas I believe the title for the article stated 'man'. So it was clarified. He also seems to fit who the possible perp could be so IMO it does seem to add up. I don't think it is the father after reading that article.

IMO he has been ID'ed and believe the time is here, to say his name. In any other case we'd already be learning about him what we can. I think the threat of a lawsuit by the family is an empty one. Evidently the SW's were of worthy probable cause if one member of the family is now a POI :waitasec:

Do not want to confuse things further but...
The properties that were searched are owned by a woman. She is listed as the owner on the property info from the county site for both.

All I know is that they said a family of "4" were questioned and released, and to my knowledge that family consits of Mom, Dad and two sons, I think age's 19 and 23...(not certain on the ages)...

That is right her intials are "TG"...

I believe DG is the POI.

Does WA have a 3 strikes law? If so, maybe they can keep him for a while now. I would think he would have to register before they let him out, right? So then what? He gets out and moves so LE won't know where he is? I think that is pretty hinky. LE must think so too, because they keep picking him up.

This is an interesting piece of info and makes for some good speculation, in my opinion.

Hey Scandi - I HATE to say it, but I think we need to wait. As you can see from the thread there is confusion about whether the POI is the son or the father. We don't want to ID the wrong guy - wouldn't be fair and this family is going to suffer no matter which male is the POI.

I think using the initials of the family members and any public info would be okay as long as we are careful, kwim?

I can't believe the media is not telling us the name :furious::furious::furious:

I tired to email the guy from the radio station that told us we have a POI in the first place, but could not find an email address. Has anyone else tried? If someone can find an email, I will be happy to write and ask WHY we are waiting like this for the name to break. Or if someone else has a media contact and is comfortable - maybe they could ask?

Thanks,

Salem

Thanks everyone!! I follow the thread but sometimes I get behind. I pray Lindsey is found soon (hopefully safe).

I'm a bit baffled @ waiting for the media IMO.
