New Zealand - Aisling Symes, 2, Auckland, 5 Oct 2009
I can't find a thread anywhere about this little 2 year old that disappeared Monday from New Zealand. I have been praying that she just wondered away and that they would find her quickly but after 5 days it is not looking good.

Wow. Very scary and sad. My prayers go out to her family.
Toddler may have been ‘kidnapped to order’
The head of a major search for a two-year-old Irish girl who disappeared in New Zealand on Monday has admitted the toddler may have been kidnapped to order.

This has a lot of earmarks of the Madeleine case. I was living in London when Madeleine went missing. The first few news articles were much like this...little to no details. Then the news gets flooded of all the particulars. I hope that they have learned from Madeleine's case and don't leave a stone unturned.
Was this family on holiday? or do they live there now or part time? Where were the parents when she went missing. Not enough being released yet.
One thing I have to say is yes...there seems to be a very high occurrence of abductions/international kidnappings in Europe.
I hope they find this baby very soon.

Thankyou CorallaroC for posting those links. I registered to do just that. The family live here in New Zealand, Dad is Irish. I dont think the Police Dept handling Aisling case are saying this is an International abduction. More likely they are taking steps to keep our custom officers on the lookout in case the perp does decide to flee the country with her. Prayers for Aisling and her family, may she be returned to you safe and sound

Here is a link for the Real Estate listing for the house on Longburn Road, Henderson, where Aisling went missing.
On the far right of this web page there are additional pics of interior and exterior of this house. At the moment, I am unable to provide the exact address of this house. IIRC, the house originally belonged to Aisling's recently deceased grandparent(s) which is why it is being sold now.
The day Aisling went missing, the family reportedly was at the house clearing items and cleaning.

Thank you NZmum
Thank you NZMUM, welcome to Websleuths. Your input here is most appreciated.
I will ask for assistance getting some photographs of Aisling posted here ASAP.
BTW, I'm impressed with the massive search efforts and good public communication there in Henderson. IIRC: With 140 police and approx 100 volunteers combing every nook and cranny in a 3km radius for 3 days. Police dogs, helicopters, boats and dive teams were also deployed.
Just heard from another NZ friend who just read this a few moments ago: "Her name, derived from her Irish father Alan's side of the family, means "vision of heaven".
And her family nickname is "Splashling."
Praying that Aisiling is found safe and unharmed very soon.

video of Aisling Dancing
Authorized video of Aisling dancing, just a few seconds long.
(quote snipped from accompanying news article)
"While it is heartbreaking footage to see given the current circumstances, we feel it humanises Aisling even more than a still photograph can and shows her in other clothes to that which she has been seen in on posters and in the media over the past five days," Inspector Gary Davey said.

Welcome to our NZ friends! And thank you all for the wonderful links and news of this story. We are not getting any news here is the USA about Aisling.
I have been praying for this little one every night. I was so hoping to come here tonight and see that she had been found.
Maybe someone local can answer a question I have. Where was Aisling seen with the Asian woman? By the street? In front of the house? Who saw the Asian woman with Aisling? At what time? (ok I guess I had more than 1 question there)
It seems like her Mom must have noticed her missing within minutes of her disappearing so the timeline must be very narrow. Not alot of time for her to get outside to the street and have the Asian woman stop her and then both disappear. I'm not questioning the story I'm just trying to understand the sequence of events that we know. I have a 2 YO Granddaughter and I know how fast they can GO, & GO, & GO
