Courts agree with N.C. legislation defining life sentences as 80 years long

RALEIGH, N.C. - A cadre of murderers and rapists, several of whom victimized young girls, will be set free from North Carolina prisons this month after state courts agreed that a decades-old law defined life sentences as only 80 years long.

Dozens more inmates could be released in the coming months unless the state can figure out a legal recourse to keep them behind bars, officials said Thursday. Gov. Beverly Perdue called them "dangerous criminals" who have repeatedly been denied parole.

This is horrible news. Why is there ALWAYS loop holes for these to escape through. When these subhumans are sentenced to life it should be just that. NO parole, NO good contuct credit and NO nothing. They should stay in prison until the day they are carted out on a gurney PERIOD.

Although I do not want to se any of these criminals set free, the law was in place when they sentenced them.

So blame the law makers to enacted the law at the time of arrest and convictions.

Don't blame the criminals for taking advantage of this "ill conceived law", blame the law makers who made it possible for the criminals to be set free.
