NY NY - Jennifer Hammond, 19, Ballston Spa, Aug 2003

I am forbidden to click the link!

When were they found? Do they know yet if the remains are of a male or a female, and any other details?

For those who can see the article: Are these about the same case?

A partial skull was found Monday by a hunter, there was a search on Tuesday and they found bone fragments but couldn't search today because weather was bad. They're searching again tomorrow if weather is OK.
So far they don't know how long the remains have been in the area or anything like that, but right now it appears to be a child 10-12 yrs old. They don't know the gender yet?

eta- yes, that is the same case, thanks for the links:)

According to comments on the above link, it looks like the police are already ruling out Jaliek Rainwalker. I wonder why, when DNA hasn't been done yet?

Sara Ann Wood is another possibility, though her accused killer claimed to have buried her 100 miles away.

Anyone know of anyone missing in W. Mass?

Sources familiar with the case indicated the skull was linked through dental records to Jennifer M. Hammond, a 19-year-old Colorado woman who disappeared from Ballston Spa in 2003 while selling magazine subscriptions.

She was last seen in the Creek and Pines Trailer Park in late August, 2003, according to an online posting about her case on a missing persons website

Wow. 19. They were pretty far off on the original estimate of 10-12, but she does look very petite in the photo.

Prayers for her family. They have waited a long time for some answers. Hopefully her killer can be brought to justice now.

Just saw that they'd IDed the remains on the 11PM news. I was "hoping" it'd been a missing 12 y.o. boy, but they ruled him out almost immediately. The possibility of it being Jennifer didn't even cross my mind until they ran the teaser, but when they mentioned a six year mystery had been solved, I knew, though I couldn't recall her name. Initially, they were saying the skull fragments they found were from a 10-12 year old.

I hope her parents find peace, though I know it never really comes. I hope that they get answers.

I'd always wondered if something had happened at the hands of somebody in the group she'd been selling magazines with (I remember reading something about how she'd purchased a bus ticket from Albany back home, and wondered if there'd been conflict or...? And I've heard some about some seriously screwed up people in these groups) but, given they found the remains up near Lake Desolation, I just can't imagine that that's true.

RIP, Jennifer. :(
