Cumberland County authorities are searching for Shaniya Nicole Davis, 5, who went missing from her home, 1116-A Sleepy Hollow Drive in Fayetteville, Tuesday morning.
An Amber Alert was initiated for Shaniya just before noon, Lt. David Sportsman said.
Police responded to the home around 6:50 a.m., and Shaniya's mother told officers that she last saw her daughter at 5:30 a.m. A man believed to be a boyfriend and Shaniya's 7-year-old brother were also in the home when she went missing.

Mario Andrette McNeill, 32, was convicted in May of kidnapping and assaulting Shaniya before killing her, and he was sentenced to death...

"I gave her to him to cover $200. He was only supposed to have sex," a sobbing Davis told investigators at the time... McNeill came to the Fayetteville mobile home park where Davis lived on Nov. 10, 2009, to have sex with someone else, West said, but when that fell through, he went to Davis' home and demanded that she either pay him the $200 or have sex with him. When Davis refused, McNeill took Shaniya instead...

This is definitely NOT what I wanted to read today!!! This case shook me to my core! I cant ever get the image of that carrying little Shaniya to the hotel room. Seriously, he needs a fast pass to his execution...not a new trail! [emoji35][emoji35]

Lawyers for Mario Andrette McNeill, 36, argued to the state Supreme Court that his conviction and sentence should be thrown out because his original attorneys violated attorney-client privilege and provided ineffective counsel by telling authorities where they could find the body of Shaniya Davis and that the information came directly from McNeill.

Deputies responded to the area of Mockingbird Hill Road and Heron Drive at about 9:30 p.m. and found Chavez Christian Lockhart, of Fayetteville, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Deputies confirmed that Lockhart was the half-brother of Shaniya Davis, the 5-year-old girl Fayetteville found murdered in 2009.
