Missing for a year: Where is Sandy?

Jacquie House fears the worst ‘because we have nothing to go on…'
October 08, 2009
BY CHERRI GREENO, RECORD STAFF
PUSLINCH — The pain doesn't get easier.

If anything, it gets worse as the days drag on for Jacquie House.

One year ago yesterday, on Oct. 7, 2008, her brother disappeared. No one — not police, family or friends — can figure out what happened.

“I think he's been killed,” she said of her brother, Alexander Byron Abt, known as Sandy to his friends. “Because we have nothing to go on.”

Sandy, 44, was last seen working at Schneider's Refinishing on Forwell Road, where he painted cars and trucks. His mother had taken him his dinner at around 5 p.m.

“I know there are people that know what happened,” House said.

Wonder if they ever did a physical search for him?

I'd also like to know WHO led LE to believe he was somewhere else? May have been a redherring to throw LE off. That could be the person who MAY know what happened to him.

BY CHERRI GREENO, RECORD STAFF

WOOLWICH TOWNSHIP — Jacquie House is waiting by her phone. She’s waiting for the call that will tell her whether the bones found in a Woolwich Township field this weekend belong to her beloved brother.

Alexander Byron Abt, known as Sandy to his friends, has been missing since Oct. 7, 2008. The 44-year-old was last seen working at Schneider’s Refinishing on Forwell Road.

“I feel it could be (him) but I just really don’t know,” House said.

I'll see if I can't find an update on these remains. Human remains were found in Scarborough May 7, 2010, as well, which is also of interest in this case.

ETA: As far as I can tell, there has been no identification made on the Woolwich remains as of yet.

Thanks Whyaduck for bringing this case to our attention as I had not heard of Sandy Abt's disappearance until now.

Lots of new info at the recent link....thanks KateB!

Snipped...
...It’s not clear what Abt planned to do to escape their reach.

Wondering then, where investigators got the idea that Abt might be in the Calgary area?
