Roy Kronk: State's star witness or Anthony defense's best shot?

"I wouldn't be shocked that he allows it, but it's a long shot," said University of Florida law professor Michael Seigel. "It can be prejudicial against the witness."

Tampa prosecutor Pam Bondi — who is not associated with the case — said Kronk is not on trial.

The defense will try to point their fingers at as many people as possible to draw attention away from Anthony. But, Bondi said, the state has a strong circumstantial case.

"He says they had no idea this was coming until they saw media reports. He says that they now just want to wait and see how this develops. ... &#8220;The prospective jury pool is out there and I have to guard everything I possibly can with this case,&#8221; Baez said. &#8220;No matter what's done, no matter what's said, people are going to read into it and say things and overanalyze it and criticize it and I don't think when you have someone's life hanging in the balance you can take any risks.&#8221;

The media coverage of the Casey Anthony case has taken another strange turn. Now one station's analyst is lambasting another station's commentator.

WFTV-Channel 9 legal analyst Bill Sheaffer dismissed the latest motion by Anthony's defense team as a media stunt. The defense team is pointing to Roy Kronk, the meter reader who found Caylee Anthony's remains, as a possible suspect in the child's death. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the child's death. Sheaffer said the defense team's interview with Kronk's ex-wives are worthless because they weren't done under oath.

But WESH-Channel 2 legal analyst Richard Hornsby praised the defense team's motion. "This is the first significant and credible shot the defense has taken against the state. I think it has a high likelihood of success," Hornsby said on the air.

Now on his blog, Hornsby writes that he was "flabbergasted" when Sheaffer described the defense's "tactics" as "despicable."

So I was flabbergasted when WFTV-ABC &#8220;legal analyst&#8221; William &#8220;Bill&#8221; Sheaffer said: &#8220;I deem these tactics as despicable&#8221; and then &#8220;blasted&#8221; Mr. Baez on his blog (Does Casey&#8217;s Defense Have No Sense Of Decency?), local news, and web video footage for WFTV-ABC.

Well ladies and gentleman, only one of us can be right&#8230; (I am, but more on that later.)
