AZ - Pedophile in Phoenix writes vile letters to children

Please forgive me if this has another thread. I couldn't find it. I just came upon this article from two weeks ago and was shocked. I couldn't believe that I missed it. This is terrifying. This guy, described as very intelligent and "grandfatherly" has written over 80 letters to little girls graphically describing what he wants to do to them. They haven't caught him!!

Parents, don't let your children open mail that you aren't certain about.

I know, I've never heard a word about this. I check child porn arrests every day and I just noticed today that this shows up for two weeks ago. I'd think that there would be greater publicity (even though I know that can fan the flame) to educate parents as to what's going on. I wonder how many parents (or children--oh my) have just thrown the letters away. I can just imagine a 10 year old girl opening one and being too embarrassed to tell her parents. This guy needs to be caught.

So the last article indicates that LE has gotten DNA off the envelopes. Now they just need to match it up with someone!

    Let's hope that happens soon.

This is disgusting. And creepy. And awful. I hope they are able to catch him. He has no doubt disrupted the lives of many families. That being said...thank God he is only writing letters. Compared to many things that we hear about these days, he could be doing a lot worse. Like personally tracking them down. I'm not trying to downplay this in any way, because it is serious. I'm just sayin...until he is caught, let's be thankful those 80+ girls are all okay!

    what a !@#$%^&* pig

his dna isn't in the criminal system - this is why we should have our dna taken for licensing etc. so LE can nail all the 'white collar' criminals who are operating under the radar

yeah, yeah I know - big brother & all that ...

Yah, i heard about this guy before... Seems like they said he would hide the letters in places they could be found by the people he wanted to read them.. Bikes, bushes around the homes etc.

That could be Kano, but it sounds as if these letters were actually addressed to specific kids and included clippings of them from local newspapers. How scary is that?? I would think that since these letters were sent through the mail, this would be a federal offense. Is that correct?

This is kind of like something that happened to me when I was young. A man used to call my house and specifically ask to speak to me. The first call I received was when I was about 8. He said things that I didn't even know the meaning of. My parents freaked when i told them what he said. I didn't know why at the time. Anyway, the man called me about once a year until I left for college. We never found out who it was and the calls stopped eventually. This was before caller id. I bet the creep that is sending letters is like my creep, only he knows that phone calls can be traced.

Spurser--That is totally creepy. I don't know how old you are but it actually sounds like the same guy!!

We had a 35 year old man call our teen-aged son (FWIW, one of our older healthy guys) once. Our son had ridden the bus down to the SF Bay Area to visit family. He was very proud of himself as he was about 15 and feeling very independent. This creepy guy sat next to him and talked him up and even changed buses with him. Our son naively gave him our phone number and address (I could still shake him for that!!) hoping he would go away. We obviously had not given him the social skills to say no to creepy guys.

We knew nothing about this until I opened the mail one day and found a strange post card from someone lodged at San Quentin. It was addressed to our son and called him "Little Bro" (that still gives me chills) and talked about how nice their talk was and that when he got out he wanted to come visit and still had our address. I about freaked out. Our son spilled the whole story and confessed that the man had actually called a few times before he'd been arrested. Our son (bright, social, trustworthy) was too scared to tell us as he "knew we'd be mad".

We called a good friend who is a local police officer and she was not happy. She contacted San Quentin and had this guy's cell tossed. It turned out that the man had taken several photos of our son on the bus (which N neglected to tell us about) which he had in his cell and had written a bunch of slimy "poetry" about our son. I was literally sick. We got a call from San Quentin and they had us fax down copies of the card and a statement by our son.

A few hours went by and we got a call back telling us that Mr. B's cell was "purged of all evidence" of our son's private information. By the way the warden spoke, I got the feeling that Mr. B's brain had been purged of that info too. Good.

We've used that story as a life lesson about a hundred times now. I keep a file of all the communication to and from San Quentin so I can pull it out and scare the daylights out of another overly trusting teen. I'm sure our son will tell his two sons the story. I think it really scared him. Just thinking about it creeps me out.

Wow Missizzy! That is truly terrifying. I hope you get notice if that guy ever gets out of prison. Yet another example of how sick these pervs are. I don't know why it is not considered a serious offense when men do these types of things. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what these creeps want to do with kids. Don't get me started......

Spurser--Isn't it interesting how WS works? I honestly had not thought of that story I told above for years. It happened before our younger kids were raped and their trauma certainly trumped the earlier experience. We mention it to older teens, though, when they start going out in the world. This thread made me really think about it. I have so much better sleuthing skills than I used to. I'm going to go dig out the file and do some research. I would think that with the slimeball's San Quentin ID #, I'd be able to find something. This would have been in 1994 or 95.

One of the things I learned, though, from this experience is that my response was not as it should have been. Our son, N, was/is a very sensitive person who likes to please. I'm usually very calm. Well, I remember freaking out and yelling. It was, "N, how could you? This was NOT smart. You should have known better. What are we going to do?". You can imagine the wailing. You notice what his reasoning was for not telling was--he thought we'd be mad. We actually weren't mad, we were terrified. The problem is that 15 year olds see everything in black and white and he saw "mad". He was ashamed and mortified. It is highly distasteful to have police calling San Quentin on your behalf when you're late for theater practice. Wrong wrong approach. Having 13 kids has some perks. You get to change your approach and try again.

Well, four years later when our eight youngest came to us and disclosed, our response was totally different. Yes, they were younger and had special needs. But, we kept our emotions in check and stayed very calm (kind of like "deer caught in the headlights" calm). We only privately cried and freaked out. We let the kids know from the first moment that they'd done nothing wrong and they were so brave to tell us. I think it really made a huge difference. They went to the Advocacy Center and were treated tenderly and all the disclosures and physical evidence was preserved.

When I think back on N's experience, with what I know now, I suspect far more happened than I realized. This man was doing everything he could to abduct or spirit away my boy. N was tender, innocent, involved in art and drama, and very handsome. I sent him alone to change buses in the main SF bus station without the proper safety skills. I think God gave us a free pass on that one. It could have ended very very badly. N is still so embarrassed about the experience, that we rarely talk about it. He has two sons of his own, though, and I bet he'll not make the same mistake I made.

Concerning the children who've received these letters, I honestly believe that some slipped through the cracks. I just know that some 10 year old quietly slipped her nasty note in her backpack and isn't telling anyone about it. She embarrassed and doesn't want her parents to be "mad" or worried. Remember, kids try like heck to protect their parents. Just think of all the young kids who get home before their parents do and pick up the mail. I just don't think the vast majority will say, "Mom, Dad...what is this guy talking about?"

From the myfoxphoenix.com link I thought this was really significant.

A Phoenix postmark is what all of these letters have in common.

The letter-writer has never engaged in any physical contact with any of the victims, so there isn't a suspect description available.

Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward in identifying the suspect. The following are two of his frequently-used phrases: "lovebud" and "hope her thighs feel as good as they look." If you have any information, please contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
Spursor I don't want to put any pressure on you. Was your pic in the paper at any time? Do you remember what years it happened to you? If any of this sounds familiar you might want to consider calling the number. I don't know when it happened to you. But even the fact that you got a call and these girls got letters shouldn't stop you. This guy could have started with calls, then worried about phone traces and changed to writing letters.
