    ME & NH - Sarah Rogers alias Marla Moon, 29, 13 Dec 2009 - #1

Maine and New Hampshire police are searching for a missing woman, whose car was found abandoned on I-95 in Clinton during a snowstorm on Dec. 13.

Sarah Rogers, 29, was last seen earlier that day in Barrington, N.H. Maine State Police Trooper Rick Moody then found her blue Scion at 6:15 p.m. that evening in the median of the interstate, after responding to a report of a vehicle off the road.

Rogers was driving north. Footprints in the snow led from her car, across the median and into the southbound lanes, where they disappeared. Police believe a passerby stopped and picked her up.

She hasn’t been heard from since. State troopers and Barrington, N.H. police have been in contact with Rogers’ husband and family, and are seeking information about her whereabouts.

“Her family wants to know if she’s safe,” said Officer Toby Perry, of the Barrington Police Department. Barrington is a town of 7,500 about 25 miles northwest of Portsmouth.

Rogers is described as 5’8” and 110 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes, and sometimes is known by the alias “Marla Moon.” Her car was found undamaged and displayed a Florida registration.

Anyone who may have assisted Rogers during the storm, or knows of her or her location, is advised to contact Maine State Police dispatch at 1-800-452-4664 or the Barrington police at 603-664-2700.

    well, here we go again.

forgetting the Florida plates for a second, the newspapers said she had an address in NH. If she was a local, you would think she would have a little more sense on how to drive in the snow and what to do in case of an emergency. She would have been perfectly safe to remain in her car with the heat on had she chosen to wait.

I think she did not want to be rescued by the cops at that moment (maybe intoxicated??? Maybe in possession of something she did not want discovered???) so she opted to be picked up by a stranger rather than face the cops. You have to wonder at the convoluted thinking that goes into these hairbrained decisions.

I hope this one has a happy ending but unlike Katie out in Chicago, who was only partying for like 3 days, this woman has been gone for 2 weeks. Not looking too good here sorry to say.

I'd like to know what she was doing some 2 and a half hours north from her home...in a storm no less. The first thing I thought of was a drug run. Clinton is right next to Waterville...the crack capitol of Maine.

Regardless of what she was doing in Maine...I hope she is found alive.

Copied and pasted from dreamweaver's post....

    http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll...S_01/712299917

"He stressed that, as a 29-year-old, Rogers has no obligation to keep her family abreast of her whereabouts. Family and police simply want to make sure she is safe, he said, adding Rogers is welcome to call police herself to confirm her condition."

What in the heck does THAT mean??
And...sorry, but "Marla Moon" sounds like a stage name or something...??

    That's exactly what I thought!

Hmmm there is a stripper club ( I think the only one in Me and NH) about halfway between her house and where she was found. I wonder if she works there. I think the name of the place is called Platinum Plus.

    Interesting information from this article...
    http://www.bangordailynews.com/detail/133688.html

Police say Sarah Rogers of Barrington, N.H., was last seen in Barrington on Dec. 13, several hours before her car was found by a Maine state trooper who responded to a report of a car off the road.

Rogers was headed north. But footprints in the snow led across the median and into the southbound lanes.

The Kennebec Journal says police believe a passer-by stopped and picked Rogers up. She has not been seen since.

I am appalled by the suggestion she was a stripper being inserted in this missing persons discussion. Last time I checked it was a perfectly legal line of work and for that matter, it is of no import to me how she may have earned a living.

I was commenting on the poor choice she made upon finding herself in a snowy ditch and what probably motivated that poor choice. I only hope she is alive and if she had a near miss with a psycho that she learns something from this escapade.

If she had an address in NH and her car was going north and in the State of Maine she was driving away from home.

She was driving her car, a Blue Scion North on I-95 in Clinton and had been in Barrington earlier in the day. Barrington is a town of 7,500 about 25 miles northwest of Portsmouth. That's all I could find Nurse...

Other interesting tidbits...(sorry if you'll have already read/seen this)

    She's married

Her car was found at 6:15pm on 12/13/09

Footprints in the snow led from her car, across the median and into the southbound lanes, where they disappeared.

Police believe a passerby stopped and picked her up.

Her car was found undamaged and displayed a Florida registration.

Why would you be appalled? Strippers do go missing. You yourself said being a stripper is a legal line of work, and no one has said otherwise. I wasn't knocking her for being a stripper, just commenting on her alias name sounding like one a stripper would use. I could care less what she does for work, if she does drugs or whatever!!! Like I said in an earlier post, I hope she's found alive.

I had thought that her name sounded like a name you might give yourself
if you were a stripper, exotic dancer, escort.

I mean no disrespect in saying that. This woman is missing.
If, IF, that is Sarah R's line of work, it may help find her.

I googled Marla Moon as well. There is a Dr Marla Moon.

    ...
    Things that caught my attention:
    Florida plates.
In NH, headed north, car found in ME.
Family wants her to just let them know she is okay.

    Questions I have:
Was she on a trip to see someone, traveling?
She was seen earlier in the day in Barrington.
    Did she stop for lunch?
    Did she visit a friend?
Does her family know where she was headed?
Cell phone? Almost everyone has one.
Have the police checked it? Called it. No mention
    of it in news articles.
If a car picked her up, headed south, are there any security cameras, say at the next exit, that might have picked up video of a car right after the time of her accident?

I wonder if she was experienced driving in the snow. If she is from Florida, she might not be.

There are very few details about this woman.
I hope she sees the news and calls her family or the police to let them know she is okay.

    'snipped'
....whose car was found abandoned in the median of Interstate 95 in Clinton, Maine.

News article says car abandoned in median strip.
That does not sound like any accident.
If the car was working, not out of gas, why wouldn't she
just drive slowly to the next town or turn around and go back?

When I read it I envisioned that there was a ditch in the median dividing the highways. Even if that were not the case, she may have had ZERO traction on the grass as opposed to the road.

While the plates are from FL, if she was visiting family in NH I assume she had driven in the snow before.

very good thoughts about a cell phone.

Obviously if her car got stuck/went off the road, wouldn't you think her first thing would be to call someone? Was her phone dead? Did she even HAVE a phone with her????

So she gets out of her car in the bad weather and crosses to the other side of the road... that is where her footprints are lost...

If I were LE I would surly be thinking something criminal may have happened! I mean even if she DID get into a strangers car obviously she has not called her friends and family...it has been sixteen days!

Was this out of character for her??? Did she have any underlying emotional issues??? So many questions and so few facts...
    This bee my opinion

There aren't any cameras at the exits, that I know of, only at toll plazas. Toll plazas and exits are few and far between in this part of the state. There is no place to turn around until you come to those "authorized turnarounds". Her vehicle was not found on the toll part of 95. The last toll plaza she would have gone through was in Augusta/Gardiner area, which is 35 minutes south of where her car was found.

The state police do an excellent job of patrolling 95. If she would have stayed put, one would have come along very soon I'm sure. My niece had a flat tire about 3 weeks ago in the same area and an officer was there to check on her about 5 minutes after she pulled to the side of the road.

Cell phone are almost useless up here. But, 911 calls will go through.

The only reason I can think of her crossing the VERY wide median is if a truck driver or someone had pulled over and motioned for her to come to them. Maybe she thought she could hitch a ride back down to an exit (Fairfield - 10 minutes away) for help??? The next closest exit heading north would have been the Pittsfield exit which is about 20 minutes away.

It is a possibility that Sarah did phone someone she knew in the area to pick her up. On some stretches of I-95 in Maine the exits are few and far between and there are simply no areas to turn around from the southbound side to head back north. It was a snowstorm, and it would make sense that the person stopped to pick her up by letting her cross over onto the southbound side (breakdown lanes)

I see it evertime there is a snow storm. People end up in the median ditch between southbound and northbound, and you cannot get out of it without a tow truck. And the police will tow the cars if they are "abandoned". This does not help to explain other things, but......

Clinton is further north than Waterville on I-95, so she had already passed Waterville.

A little further north would be Skowhegan, then Bangor on I-95 for larger towns/cities.

From the last few posts we have learned that one, there is a ditch and two, if she had a cell she could have called 911 (if she wanted to call it) and any other calls were hit or miss.

I will revert to my original comments -

She would have been perfectly safe to remain in her car with the heat on had she chosen to wait.

I think she did not want to be rescued by the cops at that moment (maybe intoxicated??? Maybe in possession of something she did not want discovered???) so she opted to be picked up by a stranger rather than face the cops. You have to wonder at the convoluted thinking that goes into these hairbrained decisions.

At 6:15 it would have been VERY dark up there so nobody waved her over. To me, she did not want to wait for the cops, took her belongings with her and hitched a ride.

Well, I am glad we have locals posting on here.
It is helpful to know how that stretch of road is.

No ditches in the median strip here in Oregon.
