Volunteers Search for Missing Regina Woman
Volunteers were searching Saturday for Carlene Walters, who has been missing from her Regina home for 11 days.
Family members say Walters, whose 53rd birthday is Saturday, has health issues which could impair her judgment and may explain why she has been difficult to find.
Organizers say searchers will cover Regina and the outskirts of the city as best they can.

Missing Regina Woman Could be in Calgary
Daughter Rylend Firnesz said Walters has two sisters in Calgary and Airdrie.
The family is considering the possibility she may try to visit them.
Walters had been dealing with medical and psychological issues following a major car crash in September, and family had been watching her round-the-clock over the Christmas holidays.
Sometime after her husband left for work on Dec. 30 and another family member arrived, Walters left the house. She has not been seen since.
She did not take a wallet or identification, nor did she have any credit cards, Firnesz said.
However, Walters may accept rides or hitchhike if she had a particular destination in mind.
"If she was determined to go somewhere, I think she would do that," Firnesz said.

No sign of missing Regina woman
By Jason van Rassel, Calgary Herald
February 6, 2010
A month after Carlene Walters went missing, her family is still no closer to knowing her fate.
It was initially thought that Walters, 53, might turn up in Calgary to visit relatives after disappearing from her family's Regina home on Dec. 30. But she hasn't turned up here -- or anywhere else.
"We have OK days, and we have bad days when we're sitting and thinking and we don't know what to think anymore," said her daughter, Rylend Firnesz.
"Now, it's out of our hands."

Search continues for missing Regina woman

The family of a sick and possibly disoriented Regina woman missing for more than a month is renewing their appeal to the public for help in finding her.
Carlene Walters, 53, walked out of her home in the northwest of the city on New Year's Eve and has not been seen since.
Her disappearance put the city on high alert because she suffers from a medical condition that causes confusion and anxiety.
In the days following the announcement that she was missing, police and search teams combed the streets looking for her and asked people to check their backyards, sheds or other areas on the chance she may be hiding.

Family Can Only Wait, Hope
Searches have been done, posters and billboards have gone up and a Facebook page was established.
Now two months after Carlene Walters' Dec. 30 disappearance, her daughter Rylend Firnesz says her family can do little else but wait and hope.
"It's a waiting game right now and we continue to do what we can as a family in terms of communicating with the general public and the community and the media and businesses to continue to keep her poster up and continuing to keep their eyes out for her," Firnesz said. "So we just maintain a little bit of hope as a family, but I guess the next big step would be waiting until spring arrives."

I hope that investigators are able to determine what would lead Ms. Walters so far outside of the city. There are so many unanswered questions about this case.
