IL - Man found with 300K rounds of ammo, 100 firearms - threatened to kill family
Man accused of plotting to kill family, police
ROLLA -- Police say a man with 300,000 rounds of ammo plotted to kill his ex-wife and kids.
Rolla police arrested Lowell Aughenbaugh, 47, of Illinois after receiving a tip he was coming to Phelps County to kill his estranged family and any police officers who got involved.
Aughenbaugh was arrested after he stole his son's car in Rolla.
Police later found 100 firearms and 300,000 rounds of ammunition in addition to explosive making material.
He's charged with making terroristic threats, resisting arrest and harassment.
He was released on a $100,000 bond and is set to appear in court on Jan. 12.
MissIzzy - I don't think any single citizen needs 100 guns & 300K rounds of ammo....I'm all for controlling this.
This is one messed up situation - they let him go!! Unfrigging buhleeevable!!

Last week officers from the Rolla Police Department received complaints from family members of an Illinois man, who threatened to come to the Rolla area to kill his estranged wife and other family members. According to family members the suspect also purportedly threatened to shoot law enforcement officers and even bomb the police department. We learned that the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department had received similar intelligence so we combined efforts with them, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Division of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms along with several Illinois law enforcement agencies. The investigation revolved around 47 year old Lowell D. Aughenbaugh of McCook, Illinois who was formerly from Rolla and alleged to have several weapons and ammunition at his disposal.
I guess they let him go because of his "generosity and willingness to help anyone he can" (see comments here http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/story...193181&catid=3 )

Well, least we will know where to look when another one of those "could have been prevented" crimes happen, such as another school being shot up, many officers being killed, and whole entire families being slain!
Did this guy have a permit to carry each of these guns?
I am pizzed about them letting him out..
This is exactly what is wrong with our judicial system! This man needs to be in serious lockdown!
