FL - Rabbitt Burns, 51, murdered in her Volusia Co. home, 11 Jan 2010

Rabbitt Margaret Burns was found murdered in her Voulusia County home. Burns had not shown up for work and after trying to get ahold of her co-workers went to the house and peered in her window.

Ms. Burns car is missing and it has the license plate RABBITT.

Sounds like it may be another home invasion that ended in senseless murder, imo.

    Description of her car:

"Burns' black 2003 PT Cruiser with the tag RABBITT is missing from the home, Davidson said."

(Snipped that from Filly's OP. Prayerfully someone will see the car and the perp of the crime can be aprehended ASAP.)

Florida...Her car was found in Orlando.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Gary Davidson confirmed the PT Cruiser was found in Orlando, but had no additional information.

There is a nice picture of Rabbit at site.

    Another incident

When I lived in Seminole County in the town of Oviedo, there was a librarian killed in her home. It turned out to be a neighbor boy (teenager) she made him mad over something she had said to him. He is now in jail, this happened in the late 90's.

Hope they find who did this to this lady.

Police are talking to a possible suspect. Sadly Rabbitt may have been murdered by some crackhead looking for his next fix. They found her car near a hotel were the suspect was staying under an false name.

When police went to his room, they found him with cocaine and a firearm. Since Bowman is a convicted felon he was taken into custody. Volusia County investigators showed up at the motel and searched the room.

They aren’t saying what Bowman’s connection is to the Burns case. He was taken to the Orange County Jail on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and contempt of court.

I bet he left something personal in the car. An item with his name or something that he left there in his drug-idled brain.

Here's another article on the POI

    http://www.wftv.com/news/22235814/detail.html

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office has a person of interest in the investigation of a woman who was murdered in her home.

The major case unit is continuing its investigation into the murder of 51-year-old Rabbitt Burns. Officers said 39-year-old Steven Bowman is considered a person of interest in the case.

    also from that article:

Bowman was seen with the victim in the days leading up to the murder and investigators believe he may have been one of the last persons to see Burns alive.

Sounds like she might have known him or maybe he did work at her home.

Way to rub it in when a person who lives across the bridge from Camden is on the thread. Heck, forget Camden I live in Philly.

Here's audio of the 911 call if anyone is interested. I don't listen to those, but found this link.

    From October 2010:

    http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/...s-guilty-today

A 39-year-old Deltona man pleaded guilty today to first-degree murder and robbery with a firearm in the January death of an Orange City-area woman.

As part of a negotiated plea agreement, Circuit Judge Patrick Kennedy sentenced Steven D. Bowman to two terms of life in prison...

Burns was preparing breakfast when she was killed Jan. 11 with a gunshot to the head, according to Sheriff's reports. The table was set for two, with two full glasses of milk.
