Who are the 2 elderly women and why were they involved?

They lived in the house where the shooting occurred. One injured is a home health care worker who was tending to them. The pregnant teen, not sure if she lived there or was with the home health care worker. Dollar to a donut says this guy went after the pregnant teen...his history suggests it.

Two elderly women dead in Hernando shooting, suspect at large

"He's made threats to law enforcement offices and he's obviously very capable of carrying them out,'' said Sheriff Richard Nugent.

One of the people injured is a female home health care nurse, and one is a pregnant teenager, believed to be the niece of the shooter. Both have been airlifted to hospital. The sheriff said the injuries were very serious.

I think you're right, Charlie.

According to court records, Kalisz was found guilty in 2009 for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and aggravated assault. He is serving a sentence of five years on probation.

OK there is more to this than meets the eye. In the trailer when he blew it up was a woman. I'm wondering if he knew they were coming for him and just has been on a rampage for 2 days?

Sgt. Donna Black, a sheriff's spokeswoman, confirmed at 5:45 p.m. that Kalisz was shot.

He was accompanied by an unknown man who also was shot. Deputies confronted them at the corner of U.S. 19 and County Road 351, Black said.

A deputy at the scene also was injured by gunfire and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Kalisz was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Black said. She did not know the extent of his injuries.

Someone else was with him?

Kalisz, whose last known address was 138 Travel Park Drive in Spring Hill, also was found guilty in October for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to court records.

A review of arrest records on the sheriff's Web site showed he was arrested for both charges in February 2009.

Assistant State Attorney Don Barbee said someone convicted of aggravated assault would automatically get a prison sentence. He didn't know why Kalisz was a free man.

Michael Grunberg, who lives four houses down, said he frequently hears gunfire echo through his neighborhood because there is a lot of open land nearby. The shots he heard shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday were "much louder," he said.

Grunberg also noticed a deputy cruiser parked in front of the house earlier that morning, sometime before 1 a.m

I wonder what was going on at 1 am, if there had been a disturbance call or something. I think blowing up his home yesterday and the fact that he should be in jail for his charges had a lot to do with what happened today.

Rampage leaves two women, deputy dead; two other women, suspected shooter critical

Kalisz pulled into a BP station at the intersection of U.S. 19 and County Road 351 in Cross City, Sullivan said, and he came out shooting, hitting Dixie County Sheriff's Capt. Chad Reed in the face.

Reed died Thursday night at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, according to Sullivan, who said he had been asked by Dixie County Sheriff Dewey H. Hatcher Sr. to handle media requests.

Kathy McKinney of the Dixie County Advocate newspaper, whose brother-in-law, Maj. Scott Harden, works for the Dixie County Sheriff's Office, said deputies told her that Kalisz had been shot in the head and taken to Shands as well. His condition was unknown.

Capt. Reed leaves behind a wife and two young children. :(

The two woman killed have been identified as 61-year-old Kathryn Donovan and Deborah Buckley Tillotson, 59, both of Brooksville.

Also shot were Amy Wilson, 33, of Hudson and 18-year-old Manessa Donovan, who is Kathryn Donovan's daughter. Both are listed in stable condition.

Wilson and Tillotson worked for Kathryn Donovan at her home-based business, the sheriff's office reported.

According to BayNews9.com and other sources, the 18 year-old lost her unborn baby during surgery. She was only eight weeks, sadly, so I doubt they'll pursue charges for that. Not that he should get off lightly with killing a cop, two elderly women, and the attempted murder of the two younger women.

I don't see a scenario where a Florida jury wouldn't sentence him to the DP unless he's able to pull off an insanity defense.
