Shreveport Police detectives are searching for a local man in connection with three robberies that occurred in Shreveport’s Broadmoor neighborhood yesterday.
At approximately 4:10 p.m. on February 15, 2010, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a robbery in the 100 block of Southfield Road. Upon arrival, officers contacted an elderly male victim who reported that as he picked up pecans in his front yard, a white male suspect approached him and demanded money. The victim told officers the suspect never displayed a weapon, but did threaten his life. The victim gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled the scene of the crime.
An hour later, police responded to another robbery report in the 300 block of Levin Lane. Officers contacted an elderly male victim there who advised that a white male suspect had knocked on his door stating he was out of gas. The victim told officers that he was giving the suspect a ride to a gas station when the suspect pulled out a black handgun and demanded money. The victim gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect jumped out of the vehicle.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., patrolmen responded to the 600 block of E. Southfield Road relative to an attempted robbery. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female victim who reported that she was in her carport removing groceries from her vehicle when she was approached by a white male suspect armed with a box cutter. The victim told officers that the suspect grabbed her purse and a struggle ensued. The victim’s husband came outside and the suspect fled the scene of the crime without the purse.
None of the victims were injured during these incidents. Detectives were immediately notified and began working to identify and apprehend this suspect. Investigators have been able to identify the man they believe is responsible for these crimes and have now obtained a warrant for his arrest. Police are looking for 34 year old Ronnie Bishop of the 8200 block of Paula Kay Place in Shreveport.
Bishop is wanted on one count of attempted armed robbery and detectives anticipate more charges will follow. Bishop’s bond has been set at $250,000.
