Elizabeth Johnson and Casey Anthony have been compared by many across the nation. Both women are young mothers whose children disappeared and seemingly showed no emotional response to the fact that their children were gone. Elizabeth Johnson is the mother of missing 8-month-old Tempe, Arizona boy, Gabriel Johnson. Casey Anthony is the mother of Caylee Anthony, who was 2-years-old at the time of her disappearance. Her skeletal remains were discovered on December 13, 2008. Both Elizabeth Johnson and Casey Anthony had court appearances today: Elizabeth for child abuse and Casey Anthony for check fraud.

Casey Anthony&#8217;s murder trial was expected to begin in June 2010, but today the state said it might be as long as 5 years.

Jose Baez: No plea bargain in Casey Anthony's murder case

There won't be a plea bargain in Casey Anthony's murder case, defense attorney Jose Baez told HLN's Jane Velez-Mitchell Monday night.

"Absolutely not," Baez told Velez-Mitchell. "Casey Anthony is not guilty. She's pled not guilty, and this is going to trial."

She asked Baez about the prosecutors' complaints about the defense team. "They took shots at you, saying that you've taken your sweet time questioning witnesses and have still not turned over a list of witnesses that you plan to call," she said. "Give me your side of the story there."

Baez replied: "Anyone who's followed this case closely can see that we're doing as thorough a job as we possibly can. We're on the attack 24/7. ... It's an adversary process. ... We don't hold anything personal against the prosecutors. But we're not going to let them run over our client, especially -- we believe in our client's innocence, and we want to defend her life, and that's exactly what we're doing."

And Lyon made that comment on a national program. How&#8217;s that for irony?

The defense team keeps giving its detractors priceless material. Even as they castigate the media, Anthony&#8217;s attorneys have prompted thousands of analyses with their actions and interviews.

&#8220;She&#8217;s charged with 13 separate crimes or offenses as a result of the four stolen checks,&#8221; Judge Strickland said after hearing both sides&#8217; arguments. &#8220;On counts 3, 6, 9 and 12, those are the forgery counts, there is going to be an adjudication of guilt and time served is 412 days.&#8221;

Strickland also adjudicated guilt on counts 1 and 2 with time served.

&#8220;As for the four counts of uttering a forged check, 4, 7, 10, 13, and as to counts 5, 8, 11, three of the four fraudulent use of identification counts, the court is going to withhold adjudication with time served and one year of supervised probation,&#8221; Judge Strickland said. &#8220;I've done what I think is fair based on what I know.&#8221;

Casey now goes into the murder trial as a convicted felon. Baez said he's not worried about that possible disadvantage going into her murder trial.

&#8220;Any competent attorney should worry about that,&#8221; Sheaffer said.

The judge granted the defense's motion to get testimony before the trial from the ex-wife of Roy Kronk, who found Caylee's remains.

The judge also granted the prosecution's motion to get a schedule together for discovery and a preliminary witness list in an effort to move things along towards a trial. A date was not set.

Meanwhile, the defense's motion to stop the Orange County jail from taping Casey when she meets with her attorneys was denied late Monday.

A member of Casey Anthony's defense team says there will be no plea deal in her murder case.

Eyewitness News was in court Monday when Casey Anthony pleaded guilty to check fraud. Monday night on CNN, Jose Baez said that does not mean Casey would be pleading guilty to murder.

Baez said Casey is not guilty and the case would be going to trial. A trial date has not been set.

The defense maintains that law enforcement focused on Anthony too quickly and didn&#8217;t explore others extensively. The defense also wants to introduce testimony from a Kronk ex-wife who points to Kronk as a suspect in the toddler&#8217;s death.

In other news in the case, Anthony's defense wants to introduce testimony from Kronk's ex-wife in which she claims Kronk should be considered a suspect in Caylee's death.

Outside the courtroom Monday, Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, said they are trying to show investigators looked at Anthony immediately and should have investigated others more thoroughly.

"We believe he should have been looked into. Should have had his phone records searched like everyone else," Baez said.

Baez said the defense is not trying to make any disparaging remarks about Kronk -- who denies any wrongdoing.
