Joanne Dixon Morgan said the family of missing man Arthur Dixon will hold a candlelight vigil for family and friends at the Dixon home Wednesday, January 13 at 5:30 p.m. The Dixon’s residence is located at 1013 Highway 199, Tuskegee.
Except an abandoned vehicle, a Macon County man left authorities few clues to his whereabouts after going missing New Year’s Eve.
Arthur Dixon, 64, of 1013 Alabama Highway 199 in Tuskegee was last seen at his home around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, December 31.
Hunters found his vehicle on County Road 2 in the Hanna Community -- known as Slim Road -- on the former Seahorse Plantation while checking traps Saturday, January 2.
The hunters informed local game wardens an, after running the vehicle’s tag, it was discovered to be Dixon’s.
The Macon County Sheriff’s Office and Kilby Tracking Team along with the Tuskegee Police Department searched the immediate area for Dixon but did not locate him.
Since then, Tuskegee police, Sheriff’s deputies and the Kilby Tracking Team have been searching a two-mile radius around Dixon’s vehicle. Tuesday, January 5, Tuskegee Police Chief Lester Patrick said helicopters were searching the area and a foot patrol was preparing to depart for the scene.
The case is still under investigation and no other information has been released.
If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Arthur Dixon, contact the Tuskegee Police Department of the Secret Witness Line 1-800-215-STOP or (334) 727-9865.
