    Search suspended for missing man

The search for missing Titus County man Ryan Wayne Cannon, 42, was suspended Wednesday afternoon when a large contingent of local firefighters, sheriff's deputies and the Mounted Search Team from Telford Prison in New Boston failed to find any evidence of Cannon in the area. "Right now, because of the lack of results, we are going to suspend this search and look at what we have and don't have in regards to Mr. Cannon's disappearance," said Titus County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Scott Sartain.

Sartain, along with TCSO detective Paul Gordon, has headed up the search for Cannon since Tuesday morning.

Cannon was last seen in his back yard in the 4400 block of FM 1402 Monday night.

Deputies responded to the house around 9:30 p.m., Jan. 4, when Cannon was reported by family members to be depressed and to possibly have harmed himself and then left the residence.

Tuesday, Jan. 5, local firefighters, joined by Gizmo, the Telford Prison scent dog, and a helicopter provided by local businessman Jack McKay, searched the immediate area around Cannon's home for any sign of the missing man.

On Wednesday, Jan. 6, firefighters on four-wheelers and Telford Prison officers on horseback expanded their search of the area with no results.

"We are still asking residents in the area to keep an eye out for any sign of Mr. Cannon, to search their outbuildings, camper trailers, and so forth for him and, at this point, to just keep their eyes open along their fence rows or in any wooded areas," said Sartain.

"We certainly haven't stopped looking for him, but we need to reassess the situation and think about what other resources we have available to use in the search for him," Sartain said.

Cannon is described as a white male, 42 years old, five-feet-nine-inches in height, weighing 140 pounds, with green eyes, dark blonde hair, beard and mustache.

He was last seen wearing black jeans, a black hoodie and a dark, possibly plaid-patterned jacket.

If you have any information concerning Cannon's whereabouts, please call the Titus County Sheriff's Office at 903.572.6641.

A Mount Pleasant man who went to close an air vent in his horse trailer discovered a man's body in the bed of the trailer. Randy Moore said his horse trailer hadn't been pulled in four months.

Although positive identification has not yet been made, the body is believed to be that of Ryan Wayne Cannon, 41, who disappeared on Monday, Jan.4.

"We have to wait until we get positive identification back from the autopsy as to whether or not it is definitely Mr. Cannon, but we believe the clothing description of the victim matches the clothing Mr. Cannon was wearing the night he disappeared," said Titus County Sheriff Tim Ingram.
