Body found in gully

http://www.thewhig.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2385138

After hours of work by forensic identification officers painstakingly documenting and photographing a stretch of Station Road yesterday, police and firefighters removed a body from a gully in the northern part of the city.
The body was found down a 10-metre embankment halfway between Hwy. 15 and the CN railway tracks. Thick brush and trees filled the area. The body was on the north side of the road along a rising stretch bordered by a line of wooden guideposts.
Police said last night they would be releasing no details of their investigation.
Yellow police caution tape was strung the length of the posts and also blocked off Station Road.
A police cruiser sat at the intersection with Hwy. 15, turning away cars. A second cruiser blocked off Station Road at the CN tracks.
Two police identification officers, originally in their normal uniform and later in white coveralls, spent all morning and part of the afternoon videotaping and photographing the scene. They worked their way up the side of the road collecting potential evidence and placing it in paper bags.

From September 2012:

http://www.thewhig.com/2012/09/26/two-men-plead-guilty-to-murder

Two men, who had been scheduled to stand trial for the 2010 First Avenue slaying of 53-year-old Allan J. Mott, have both pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. David Pereira Amorim, 32, and Ryan Joseph Matte, 38, have not yet been sentenced for their crime...

Tranmer was told that Mott, whose hearing was severely impaired, requiring him to wear two hearing aids, was first reported as a missing person, by his mother, on Jan. 21, 2010 — 10 days after he’d been killed...

O’Brien told the judge that investigators, who interviewed Mott’s friends and neighbours, learned that the 53-year-old had previously had problems with Amorim and Matte. Several recalled witnessing physical confrontations between Mott and Amorim, reportedly related to thefts of Mott’s trucks.

From October 2012:

http://www.thewhig.com/2012/10/05/life-sentences-for-brutal-murder-of-allan-mott

Tranmer sentenced Amorim to life in prison and required that he serve 13 years before he’s eligible to apply for parole. Matte was sentenced to life with 11 years to serve before parole eligibility...

Mott’s wrists and ankles had been bound with tape and he’d then been trussed with brown twine and wire that circled his ankles and wrists and was drawn up his back, around his neck and through his mouth... Dr. Milroy concluded Mott’s death was actually caused by asphyxiation which, in his opinion, was probably the result of essentially being gagged with a broken nose...

The first vehicle, which was taken by Amorim and Matte, was found by police badly damaged after a single-vehicle collision, on July 1, 2009. Only a month later, on Aug. 8, 2009, Mott reported the theft of its replacement, taken without his consent by Matte and another acquaintance, who pleaded guilty to the crime in October 2009 and received a suspended sentence and probation...

On Jan. 12, 2010, Matte received 15 days in jail, on weekends, for taking a vehicle without its owner’s consent. Mott, by then, was already dead.
