Armstrong Atlantic student still missing
Bryce Tarter was last seen in Statesboro after a party at GSU on Jan. 30; searchers have no clues
By HOLLI DEAL BRAGG
It has been well over two weeks since Armstrong Atlantic State University student Bryce Daniel Tarter was last seen. Search parties have combed the area, fliers have been distributed, and alerts have been posted and forwarded through e-mail and links on the Internet. It appears as if Tarter — and his white 2000 Nissan Frontier — disappeared into thin air.

The search continued Sunday for an Armstrong Atlantic State University student who went missing one week earlier.
Bryce Tarter, 19, was last seen leaving campus at daybreak on Jan. 31, and campus police were notified of the disappearance Tuesday, university spokesman Francisco Duque said.
In the days since, Armstrong police Chief Wayne Willcox has worked with Tarter’s family and law enforcement agencies in Chatham, Effingham and Bryan counties, Duque said.
A pair of helicopters performed an aerial survey Saturday; relatives meanwhile organized a ground search.
Searchers’ efforts had remained fruitless as of late Sunday.

The Search for Bryce Tarter
February 16, 2010 08:40 PM EST (Updated: February 16, 2010 08:43 PM EST)
It's not at all like we see on TV. A young person goes missing and investigative teams search en masse until the missing person is found and returned home. This has not been the case in the search for Bryce Tarter. In fact, the search for Bryce Tarter has opened my eyes to the unfortunate misconception so many of us have with regard to media and public resources.
Bryce Daniel Tarter, 19, was last seen leaving Armstrong Atlantic State University campus in Savannah, Georgia early Sunday morning January 31. He was driving his 2000 white Nissan Frontier truck (crew cab short bed), with Maine license plates #944 7QD. The truck has a black grill guard and tinted windows, as well as an Atlanta Braves "A" decal in the back drivers window and an Atlanta Falcons symbol in the back passenger's window.
The Tarter family is distraught over the fact that their son has been missing for more than two weeks now, and have been told by law enforcement officials that many missing person cases grow cold when leads haven't been found after 21 days. In addition, some questions are starting to arise on behalf of family members and friends regarding the entire missing persons process, and even the remote possibility of gender discrimination.
"If this missing case involved a young woman, it would be all over the news," is the concensus of many people close to the Bryce Tarter case.
Long article, but worth the read.
