Joshua Tabor admitted to police he had used the CIA torture technique because he was so angry.

As his daughter 'squirmed' to get away, Tabor said he submerged her face three or four times until the water was lapping around her forehead and jawline.

Tabor, 27, who had won custody of his daughter only four weeks earlier, admitted choosing the punishment because the girl was terrified of water.

Oh, dear God....this just makes me want to vomit. What a horrible thing to do to this poor little girl. All because she couldn't recite the alphabet? And apparently the girlfriend witnessed this? I just feel sick.....what the he?? is wrong with these people?

How horrible did the mother have to be for this to get custody of his daughter? Obviously, this man is suffering from some type of mental illness. Poor little girl. That's a horrible memory that she'll live with for the rest of her life.

I hope she's somewhere safe now where she'll be loved and taken care of.

That poor little girl!! The only blessing here is that the abuse was discovered relatively quickly. Thank God she was removed from the home before any further damage was done.

And I agree with lizzybeth...I mean, how horrible was the mother that she didn't get custody in the first place?!

What a freakin' idiot! She's terrified of water already and he waterboards her?! As if the torture of waterboading a 4 year-old wasn't bad enough already!

I got sick to my stomach too - just seeing the thread title.....bless this little angel....tortured by her daddy. :(

Maybe he does have some kind of mental illness -- IDK, a 'trained fighter' choosing a 4yo girl to torture??

I hope she never has to be near him again....whether he's 'sick' or not....it's going to be hard enough for her to grow up knowing what 'daddy' did.

Without words..........

The police investigation has revealed that Tabor has had “serious anger issues in the past” and “has taken anger management classes.”

Tabor was released Monday from the Thurston County Jail after posting $10,000 bail. He is restricted to base at Lewis-McChord as a condition of his release.

He also cannot have contact with his girlfriend or children.

The child has been taken into custody by Child Protective Services, according to a police report.

I'm sorry, but a $10,000 bail is ridiculous. This guy should still be in jail, not walking around freely on Fort Lewis.

Little confused as to why they put the quotes around tortured...if this isn't torture, I don't know what is.
May she be safe and happy and dry, wherever she is right now. May she be safe from her father and the others that did nothing until after it was done.

John Ashcroft and Liz Cheney say waterboarding isn't torture so it must be true.

The mother must not be an option for custody, this says the little girl is with CPS.

From your link, ohiogirl:

Tabor's girlfriend told police that Tabor has an anger problem and beats his daughter, Stancil said.

Tabor reportedly said his girlfriend helped hold the girl down in the water. She had not been charged.

he's only had her for approx. 1 month & was beating her!! if the g/f knew this why didn't she report it, and why isn't she charged with something!!??

ETA: from your other link

The girlfriend also reported that when the child wets herself, Tabor “makes her sit in the urine-soaked clothes” until he gives her permission to change.

The g/f has some serious issues too -- like failing to report !!

IMO, one of the most dangerous situations is a child in a home with a parent with "severe anger issues". A child will most definitely push buttons as that's part of the developmental process of childhood. This is the way children define boundaries and why parents have to be quick with natural and logical consequences that are swift but kind. Consequences must be directly linked to the child's behavior--NOT THE CHILD!!!!

No person with this level of illness/lack of empathy/cruelty should have the right to parent. My guess is that the rights of this parent will be terminated as I believe they should be. No parenting class can take care of this level of anger.

This little girl will require not only therapy due to abuse but also a gentle re-introduction to water. There are many therapists who understand this process as, sadly, this type of abuse is all too common. It is akin to any forced holding under water or dunking. Horrid.

Texas Mist, you've told me all I need to hear. She won't be going back. There's several lines which got crossed that CPS and the judge will not accept. I'll be shocked if there's any attempt at reunification in this case. Once a case moves into the criminal arena, termination of rights becomes the likely prospect. Thank goodness.

That poor little girl was covered with bruises and scratches! This was not just 1 incident of being water boarded. IMO there have been many times of using water and thats why she was afraid of water to begin with! Forced to sit in her urine if she had an accident :furious:
Gee dad I wonder why she was having accidents, maybe because her daddy was beating and torturing her!!!
It says her mother is in a different state and I'm hoping maybe that is why she is not with her mother now and when she's able to come there they can be reunited. I hope she will have someone who will love her and care for her!!
It sounds like the girlfriend was not going to say anything until he becan roaming around the neighborhood threatning to break out windows.
I think it's horrible he's already been able to bail out, this is the type who later we'll be reading about hurting as many people as he can. Oh and he's already gone to anger management class, wow that did wonders for him didn't it!!
I say force him to have a vasectomy so he will never be able to torture a child of his again, he's lost the right to have a child!
A 4 yo child is so small and now this poor child will forever have scars. Yes bruises can go away, but her whole idea of a male influence in her life has been horribly altered.

VB

Another case where family court needs to recognize the best interests of the child and not the biological parent! :furious:

All I can say is I hope the 's parental rights are terminated and his other baby momma has their newborn taken away immediately. According to the articles girlfriend admitted to participating in the torture of this child. Why wasn't she charged? :furious:

Tabor spoke to a Yelm police officer and said that he and his girlfriend had “held her down on the counter and submerged her head into the water three or four times until the water came around her forehead and jawline.” He said that she was face-up when her head was in the water. He added that they gave this punishment for the 4-year-old “refusing to say her letters.”
Tabor told police that his daughter is afraid of water “and was squirming around trying to get away from the water. Joshua did not act as though he felt there was anything wrong with this form of punishment.”

This guy is dangerous! I agree with the poster who said he shouldn't be walking around free on a military base. For one thing, Lewis-McChord (which became a joint base a week ago)) is huge -- 100,000 people affiliated with the base, 20,000 families. Nobody needs this maniac running around there. Hope they put him in pre-trial detention.

I was discussing this with DH (he retired from Ft. Lewis a few years back) and he said they sometimes provide an escort for the soldier, with charges like this, but they are frequently allowed to visit the PX and other areas on base. I hope this is not the case here and that they have locked this soldier down, but I have my doubts. He should be in the stockade until trial.

I wonder who posted bail for this guy ?

O M G! What have we become?
