Chesson was arrested last night, hours after the body of Anthony Illidge, 54, was discovered behind a fence at the rear of 17/31 Slaight St. Illidge’s body was located just to the right of a hole in the six-foot white slatted fence, which has three Dumpsters corralled in front of it. He had suffered multiple stab wounds to the torso and was estimated to have been there a few days, cops said.

According to police sources, Chesson had been staying with his mother, Deborah Mitchell, 55, when he was caught by Illidge breaking into his apartment.

There was a physical confrontation and Illidge was stabbed repeatedly and then dumped behind the townhouse development, sources continued.

    From August 2011:

    http://www.silive.com/northshore/ind...suspect_w.html

In an emotional hearing in St. George this afternoon, a state Supreme Court justice sentenced Jahaad Chesson, 25, to 20 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision for fatally stabbing Anthony Illidge, 54, inside the older man’s apartment in January 2010...

Chesson pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter last month...

Chesson broke into his apartment, looking for valuables to steal. Illidge confronted him, the two struggled, and Chesson stabbed him to death. He then tried to cut up Illidge’s body, Ms. DeOliveira said. "When that failed, he placed him in a bucket, and moved him from his own home, outside to a Dumpster, for the animals to get him," she said. "(His) family couldn’t even have an open casket because of that. They couldn’t even say good-bye."
