Patrick Kyle Phillips, 25, also known as "ALL DAY," of OKC, made his last stand on 2-10-10, and now, having joined the God of many names, he is at peace. Sadly, the music got a little quieter, art colors dimmed, as the world lost a beautiful mind, heart and soul. Patrick was born in OKC on June 18, 1984, to John "Kenny" Phillips and Karen Faulk. He joined his older brothers, Dusty and Nathan, and began teaching his family about walking to the beat of a different drummer. Patrick was a cheerful and exuberant child who viewed the world as a huge amusement park. Often his excitement and enthusiasm was contagious. As a boy, Patrick drew pictures, played baseball, indoor and outdoor soccer, took dance, designed clothes, and played with his pets, Katie Kat, Mr. T, and his beloved dog, Astro. But his favorite activity seemed to be roughhousing with his brothers, his good friends, and various cousins. Patrick attended Coronado Elementary School, Central Junior High, and Putnam City Original. He showed a talent for art, entered and sometimes won several talent shows. Patrick grew up in a home where lyrics and music were revered, and the technology necessary to make great music was respected. At age 12, Patrick started and played drums in his first band, who incredibly prepared in 2 weeks for a 20-minute set, playing only originals. He dragged his mother to see many concerts and to play in others requiring, of course, hauling an entire punk rock band and their equipment. At age 16 Patrick's band set out on tour, playing shows across the entire western half of the United States. Although Patrick's last years were spent focused on creating hip hop, he loved & continued to listen to all kinds of music. Patrick was a kind, warm, compassionate, creative soul. He had a strong sense of fairness and wanted peace. Patrick was deeply connected to his family and friends and was fiercely loyal. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Walt & Virginia (Gin) Phillips; great-grandparents: Velma Goodman and Maurice & Elizabeth Shade. He is survived by his mother & stepfather, Karen Faulk & Jerry Shahan; father, John "Kenny" Phillips; brothers: Nathan Phillips and John "Dusty" Phillips & wife, Erinn Williams; niece, Stella Phillips; special friend, Amanda Baez; and beloved dog, Dolce. Patrick is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Maurine Faulk; and grandfather, John (Tommy) Davis; grandmothers: Paula Faulk & Edith Shahan; and many aunts, uncles, cousin and happily, a multitude of friends, some lifelong, and many of whom have served as Patrick's loyal earthly guardian angels. The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Al-Botros, North Rock staff, Jim Womack, Patt Williams, attorney Richard Ogden, Sheralyn Faulk and Peter Dolese. Words cannot express how much you will be missed, but we are grateful that you left us with your music, art, photos and fond memories. The brilliance of your beautiful mind lives on. A time of visitation will be from 4-9 pm on Tues. and 8 am- noon on Wed. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Svc., Bethany, OK. Memorial services will be held Wed., Feb. 17, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Mercer-Adams Chapel. To share a memory or condolence, visit www.mercer-adams.com www.mercer-adams.com
